West Coast aren’t going all that flash??? They’ve been missing 4-6 top line stars for the past 5-6 games, and have won nearly all bar a close loss to the Dogs (which has ultimately forced us to Perth week one).Monco Matt wrote:
No reason we can't still beat the Eagles though (but probably won't). They aren't goiong all that flash and have their injury concerns too. Only question is do we have the balls for the challenge?
A great post MM and I reckon you've identified the main problem above.Monco Matt wrote:
We are carrying too many and the load is felt by too few. This is the true heart of our problem and it filters through the confidence of team when not all of the 22 pull their weight. Our bottom 6 are a true liability and it needs to be the strength of every premiership team.
Yep. I agree. Midfield clearances killed us in this game. What is the reason??masoncox wrote:The interesting thing is that we lose the mid field clearance's but win off the back half.
But the forwards don't win.
Hence we lose.
Fix the midfield clearance's and break even in the forwards then we could win the flag
That’s what happens when you don’t recruit specialist forwards and only recruit midfielders, defenders and utilities.Having a coach who is obsessed with defence and doesn’t seem to care about attack doesn’t help either.Raw Hammer wrote:Our scores this season (warning, makes for unpleasant viewing):

What an absolute disgrace.
The coaches haven’t been able to fix this in 9 seasons so don’t hold your breathmasoncox wrote:The interesting thing is that we lose the mid field clearance's but win off the back half.

I tend to disagree with that. I distinctly remember several players getting around him. Can anyone confirm?sherrife wrote:We tried, but we're just not good enough. No connection between the players, no instinctive sense of where each other will be and where to go to next for the ball.
I think it's a mental thing more than anything else, but we don't seem to be able to turn it around. We played better tonight in patches, but just unable to get flow for a sustained period of time. The whole season has been like this really, even when we've won it's been ugly and unconvincing.
Worst thing for me tonight, apart from the endless fumbles and missed passes, was the failure of the players to get around Stevo after he kicked that goal. It was really good stuff from a player that everyone knows is suffering, and nobody cared. Shows that either he's done something really wrong, or there's a issue with team culture. You don't win flags with that kind of vibe, that's for sure.
Port are impressive and a great team to watch, I hope they win the flag when we get knocked out. Love Travis Boak, reminds me a bit of Swan, though less brilliant.
