I've heard numerous amount of comments lately about our drafting of Pendlebury and that it was a mistake to pick him up. It is appauling to be crucifing a player who hasn't even played a single AFL game yet or for that matter a VFL game for Williamstown.
Relax a little on who we should've or shouldn't have picked. The amount of complaints is not going to take back our draft pick and we should just welcome our new recruit with encouragement and enthusiasm since they may be making a immense impact on our future.

Totally agree Foxychick. Couldnt say it any better myself. Most are from anon posters who will not be around when they will have egg all over their faces

In the past I have asked for patience with Tex and confidently predicted that he will play 100 + games for the 'pies. I still stand by that comment.
I will now confidently predict here that Thomas, Pendlebury and Stanley will all be guns. I want posters to quote this post all they like in the future as I will stand by what I have said. I reckon it will prove to be brilliant recruiting by Collingwood.

Lazza - weren't you the one who predicted that Nathan Buckley was going to be a player too.

Darren Milliane - your pedigree is fine then.

Keep giving us an update on the new boys performance as the three of them roll on this season.

Thomas, Pendlebury and Stanley - Which one of them do you think will play his 200th first?

Time will only tell. You can't make that judgement from players who haven't played one senior game yet. However, wouldn't we all like to see them in an All Australian team :)

Sometimes you CAN make an early judgement Foxy Chick, when you see their sheer talent shining though at whatever level they play. These 3 kids will be absolute guns, of that I have not a single doubt.

Exactly. It is both impossible and unfair to write any player off at this stage of his career. All deserve two seasons in the system before any real judgement is made on them. Of course, we can still pick up some early signs, but...

Pendlebury looks a decent footballer. At 190cm, He is tall and athletic for a person who has played most of his football on a wing this year.

At 17, He still has some growth left. Has he got a defensive side to his game?

He played point guard for five years before taking up footy so he is very good in the paint and off the rebound.

Remains to be seen.

The boys from Footy Draft don't mention it in either strengths or weaknesses.
Agility: Can really step around opponents very easily. One of those players who has the ability to dodge tackles.
Sounding good. We do need outside players, and he fits the bill.

Now football certainly brings out the inner pessimist or optimist in us all but, if your writing off the kids we've picked up this year, already then you've got a dead-set worrying outlook on life.

At least let them kick some of the dew off the grass at Williamstown before making a call. Personally I like to let them get two pre-season under their belt before I'll make a call.

Just on Penders, there are plenty out there that reckon this kid has got something special and just needs to get more footy into him. His evasive skills in traffic are said to be mercurial.
