Allan drafted in 2022 at end of McRae's first season. Also he has pace and endurance. Needs time. Finley Macrae has had 4 seasons without a modicum of improvement in that time.stui magpie wrote:^
McCrae and Allan were both drafted pre Fly (IIRC) who would have different expectations than Bucks.
Both seem good honest footballers but lack leg speed and intensity. As they each have a year to go, trade Fin to the Dogs and Allan to West Coast (or Dockers). West Coast may also be interested in Ash
We need to support Ash Johnson

Ash has had a shocking run with form, confidence must be way down. he sure was a good quaility player, that specce mark he took v the Bluescum, was a bloody classic. Id give him a bit more time, maybe one more season, hes still young, dont want him to go to some deadbeat team that turns him into a star.

VFL games are also a sample size. He can’t get a kick there either - guarantee you he won’t make it.inxs88 wrote:Ed Allan? Wow! One game sample size.burnsy17 wrote:There’s a few on the list that won’t make it.
Johnson, McCrae, Ed Allen.
We’ve got a track record of botching first round picks over the past 5 years or so.
Beware the swooping Magpie.

By your standard, you’d have delisted Jaicos after 2 seasons.burnsy17 wrote:VFL games are also a sample size. He can’t get a kick there either - guarantee you he won’t make it.inxs88 wrote:Ed Allan? Wow! One game sample size.burnsy17 wrote:There’s a few on the list that won’t make it.

Four legged animals good, two legged animals better
Doesn’t seem to have the killer instinct required to play at the highest level.lazzadesilva wrote:Ash has to perform the rest of this season and I will back him to do so. Has talent to burn but needs to harness it and turn it on consistently at AFL level.

I would give Ash a go as a defender/swing player who goes forward from time to time. Get him behind the ball and it may sharpen him up.

The pay-off if he succeeds... further in Jamie Elliott's absence.
We've seen Ash's top-end and it is very good, exciting. Just need to see it consistently.
The Footy Gawds (if I spell it wrong it is not blaspheming) owe us.
He was flying against big pack or bigger players quite often on Friday. The 3rd tall - is the role.
That little toe tap that led to Markov's goal was very good. Smart like the punch for a behind in that Adelaide game last year.
C'mon Ash.

He gets between 16-25 possessions in the Reserves and maybe like Joe Richards (and Shane Warne who averaged 40 for Victoria at Shield ranks) plays better at Senior level with better teammates around them.burnsy17 wrote:VFL games are also a sample size. That's just throwing $$$ away. Not like you to do that.

Will surely be delisted at the end of this season.warburton lad wrote:support all of those wearing the sacred jumper until they retire are delisted or traded.

No club will trade for him. Not even Adelaide, who dodged a bullet when Melb. turned down their offer of two first-rounders for Petty.inxs88 wrote:...
I expect that to continue in October where Johnson is simply sold off to a club desperate and stupid for a 4th round chump pick despite having 1 year left on his contract or paid out (not to play) Zac Langdon/Jared Polec style.
