No surprises there, on all counts.

His shenanigans have cost him his place in the team.

While it's true that Jack Ginnivan is a talented player, it seems that he will need to work hard to earn his way back into the senior team. With competition for spots in the forward line at an all-time high, Ginnivan will need to grind it out in the VFL and impress the coaches with his form and fitness. While he may have been our best forward by miles in the past, the current form and pace of other forwards like Bobby Hill and McCreery, as well as the emergence of new talent like Ash Johnson, means that Ginnivan will need to prove himself all over again. It's a great problem for the club to have so much depth, but it's also a challenge for Ginnivan to find his place in the team. If he's willing to put in the hard work and stay focused, he could earn his spot back in the senior team in due time.

Another sub-standard performance in the VFL.

Hard for a small forward to shine when the ruck and mids are smashed.

I would bring Jack in for the Aints, VFL form or not. Hes a big game player, shines on the big stage. not some muddy shitty over with two and a dog watching him. I would love to see how Lyons Aints, who really have had a pretty soft draw, handle him, Bobby, Jamie, and Ash , thats a back mans nighytmare. Oh and in other forward news, I see mummys boy Henry got dropped from the Cats for tomorrows last stand match v the Hawks, I reckon we made the right call on him for sure.

And who would you drop for Ginnivan? I'd have all of Mihocek, Johnson, McCreery, Hill, Elliot, Adams ahead of him.

And out of interest, I know Jack kicked 40 goals last year, but does anyone know how many he kicked in the second half of the year (once the umps stopped paying him free kicks) ?

WTf ??? Jack was flat out getting any free kicks, do you recall the game against the Dons, nearly got his friggin head pulled off, NO free, it was all over the media and there were more like it too. :? :?

19 goals prior to round 12, 21 goals from round 12 onward.

thanks Stui. Looks like my memory failed me. Again.

Where did you find that info? I might go and check it to see what his free kick breakdown was.

Did some googling and found some stats.

Jack received 19 frees and kicked 21 goals in his first 10 games last year.
He received 13 frees and kicked 19 goals in his last 13 games last year.

So, I was sort of right. The number of frees received per game dropped away markedly in the second half. Averaged 2 frees per game in the first half and only 1 per game in the second half.

PnC that incident you're referring to was the second Essendon game i.e. in the second half of the season.

His goals per game dropped away a bit as well but remained quite respectable for a small forward at 1.5 goals per game.

Good stats - seems like he had a pretty even distribution then (I thought he might have had more in the first half…). Still want to see a bit more in the VFL I think - tough week to be a forward last game when you get belted.

It was a bit more feast or famine in the second half of the year.

Ginni went goalless just once in the first 15 games. But he went goalless 3 times over the last 8 games.

Also, he kicked either 0, 1 or 3 goals in that eight games. So he kicked 9 goals in 3 games, but just 2 goals in 5 games.

That's why he appeared to have a quiet second half of the year.
