I bet Hawthorn will sign up Lance Franklin long before his contract expires at the end of 2013
Bingo. If Cloke wants a million like Buddy, then why don't we sell him off now and wait to make the mother of all trades with Hawthorn for Buddy next year? On stats alone Buddy is twice the player Cloke is.
After winning their 11th premiership since 1961 the Hawks will have salary cap pressures of their own in 2013.
Come on, that would make you happy and sad at the same time wouldn't it? Winning the premiership and losing Buddy?
Ah, my favourite stalker.

Paying Cloke around $800,000 would make him the highest paid player at the club. Swan & Pendles should be on far more than him. Swan signed last year for a reported $650,000. If the club agree to that figure then they need a good foot up the backside.
So 85% on this board and the club agree in affect with this statement, why can't Travis Cloke see the same?
Because industrially as an employee he has a right to try to improve his position. Period. He has a right to do that without being demonised for it.
He has rights get used to it.
That is the funniest post by a rabid Left-winger I've read since (Liberal -in-disguise) Paul Keating led the Labor party.
Do you think the average worker can bargain for an additional $100,000 a year when his performance indicators are way down? Oh that's right, Politicians can and do. They just voted themselves a $44,000 a year pay rise and then got an additional $5,000 for an indexed salary increase of 3%.
You know what. If that's what the Left stands for these days then that's exactly why our society is so stuffed!

My view it has ended, Cloke has signed to play elsewhere as he wants more money than we can offer and good luck to him. The club knows he is a one of the best CHF's and can play. They believe he is a professional will see him give 100% to seasons end like Ablett Jnr did. The trouble is he does not care and is playing not to get injured, he just goes through the motions. There has been no intensity to his game since West Coast. He showed the club then what he can do and wants more money. they had a meeting he did not get the dollars and bang he is out.
Send him to the Reserves as it's affecting the other players, we can cover him but you have to get it working now. You can see it as his team mates don't speak to him or embrace him anymore so they know what's going on. Hopefully he spits the dummy and does not turn up to play.

+1 and agree, send him to the reserves. He will be useless in finals anyway. Give Tarrant a few weeks to get used to being the sole target.
Cloke is a disgrace. Can't wait to learn which moron club will damage their own playing list to fit him in.

Idiot. All I'm doing is pointing out that at its core its an industrial issue and as such deserves to be conducted professionally.
Obviously that's beyond your limited intellect to understand.
And of course the more we wreck ourselves the more you love it.

He was involved in a very good passage of play near the boundary line, which led to a goal in the second quarter. Everyone ran to embrace the goal kicker (might have been Beams from memory) and the other players involved, except for Cloke. He just walked back to the goal square. Dawes stuck out his hand & he slapped it, but that was it. There is no passion, no emotion, nothing.

Bring in Paine for Cloke and let him start learning. This year is gone anyway, so we should start grooming Cloke's replacement.

1 year where he has kicked 50 goals + [Franklin has done this 6 times in a row since 2007]That doesn't warrant the money being discussed here. In fact far from it.
Swan has 3 Copelands & a Brownlow. Why the hell should Cloke be on the same dollars? [As Lance Franklin?]
Interesting. I have put up Buddy Franklin's stats in red next to Cloke's.
The really staggering thing in this disparity is that Cloke has had 485 scoring shots in his career with an accuracy of 53.4%.
Franklin has had 871 scording shots with an accuracy of 57.6%.
There is no argument about who is the better player and more deserving of the money.

Paine is averaging 4 kicks, 2 marks and 4 handballs with Cloke in the side. ow much better will be as the sole medium-large forward credibly contesting the ball in the forward 50? Maybe in 3 years. Not now.

Spoken like yet another Labor supporter living off the public purse. Public servants (including academics) and Centrelink recipients seem to be their only supporter base these days.

If this is true don't even worry about the reserves. Sack him immediately. He'd only poison the minds of the kids in the magoos anyway if he's going.
This problem is really easy to solve for the AFL. Simply rule that no contract negotiations are to be carried out during the playing season with massive fines and stripping of points if clubs do not comply.
Better yet, get rid of the salary cap and make everyone a free agent.

Cloke has barely been any better, and if he's leaving the pies anyway, then get rid of him now and start grooming the future. We certainly aren't going to win anything this year anyway, with Cloke in the team playing like he is.

Perhaps we don't have the dollars to fit his demands into our cap Ronnie?
I thought that would be the most obvious. What is the club supposed to do?
We have a salary cap we must abide by. If the 2 parties have given their final offer & they can't get it done then both parties should part ways. Yes it will suck losing him, but at least we can sign the others & make plans for the future. Right now we are just letting this deal keep everything in Limbo. One more week until August for goodness sake.
