I've always thought that silly players have to have their Rick Ponting moment before they realise they need to change.
Remember Ponting was always seen as a great player early in his career but not a captain - then he got in a big fight in Kings Cross and immediately changed his ways. I remember the press conference he did when he siad he had a problem and needed to change, and then did.
Didak and Shaw have had a similar moment last year and the club's response to that I always thought was right.
I don't think Fev is too bright but I think being told to go by Carlton may be the best thing to happen to him - and the next club gets the benefit of that.
Malthouse is very good at dealing with things like this - he had Chris Lewis early on managed to keep him in check - and there has been several examples at Collingwood.

On Big Footy they are saying that Fev had an alteraction with Murphy at the Brownlow. Don't know how true and also that he had an altercation with tredrea.
If the bit about Murphy is right, then you have to think that he just got a whole lot cheaper.
Jolly for Pick 14, fev pick 30 or they can keep him.

Geelong didnt dump Steve Johnson, they seem to be doing pretty well. Hawthorn have all sorts of off field shenanagans, they have a bit of silverware. Hell, west coast won one with a team full of druggies, crooks and dodgy hangers on.jmcp wrote:after last year's late season 'fiasco' are we there yet on the culture front? i firmly believe that getting the culture right sets the foundations for success. for a moment, forget about strategies, forget abut roles, get the right people who will build, deliver and maintain the right culture and you're 3/4 the way there. This is what great clubs do. They build a sense of integrity and decency that they consider more valuable than winning. Invariably success is nourished in such environments.

Ponting at least has half a brain. Fevola however is a different case in point. To quote WC Feilds: they're intellectual opposites - Ponting/Didak (insert your're own name) are intellectual & Fevola's opposite. (Could've been Mae West). Mind you neither Mae West nor WC Fields could play full-forward.think better wrote:I've always thought that silly players have to have their Rick Ponting moment before they realise they need to change.

I was initially in support of Fevola coming to Collingwood, I'm currently against the idea - I think the -ves outweigh the +ves.
Jack Spain may well be correct regarding Patrick Smith - makes it up as it comes along - but if the ingnoramus Fevola did come to Collingwood I will sure as hell be barracking for him in our team & call him the professor! (Not as good as Keating's "well done professor" to the hapless Hewson).

The bit about Murphy is apparently true. Nathan Brown (Richmond) was also verballed.........wonder what that was all about.....hmmm???
After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing!

Dermie did say last week, that Judd told Fev that he had had enough to drink and told him to go home. Fev told Judd where to go. Trying to put together the story, then maybe what happened was Murphy then tried to talk sense to fev and fev spat the dummy when this little pip squeak tried to tell him what to do.Neil Appleby wrote:The bit about Murphy is apparently true. Full credit to Murphy but reflects poorly on Fev. Surely all 15 clubs would know what happened and that the scum is desperate to offload him. Why pay too much. Shades of Aker really when all he could get was a second rounder.
So please lets not sell the farm to try get this head case.

Lets be honest guys - how much has Dawes shown in his time in the AFL thus far? not a whole lot... allbeit he hasnt had a whole lot of opportunities, but for all the "potential" that is there, rarely does it really eventuate into a great FF like Fev.
Tarrant had much more potential as a youngster, is now playing as a defender on the 2nd worst team in the comp.
We were saying the same thing about Reid/Rusling a few years ago as well.
Ideally we can get Fev without having to lose Dawes, as I do like what we could get out of Dawes in a few years, but is he really that big a loss if we are getting a 80-100 goal kicker for the next 2-4 years?
Premierships are not easy to come by. 1 in 50 years.
If its a choice between a guy who could very easily put us over the top next year, or a guy who might make a difference in 3-4 years... given our current list Id rather go with the known superstar.
Again, Id much rather do this trade by giving away someone like Fraser, or a midfielder not named Swan, Dids, Pendles, Beams or Sidebottom... but if it comes at the cost of Dawes, I dont think that is too big a price to pay.
Our holes last year were the KPP. We could very easily have those 3 weaknesses sorted out next year without losing a whole lot... lets not go into next season in limbo with a side that is not built for today, but will also lose a few very key pieces in a couple of years.

I don't want this basket case; just think he will trash our brand.
There's also another point: Buckley.
Cannot imagine for a second that Bucks would want this drongo at the club.
Remember, Bucks wanted Tarrant and Johnson dropped a few years back.
MM and Ed are starting to look a bit desperate by pursuing this block head.
Of course, this is all supposition and in fact, Collingwood may not be interested at all.
Bucks was absolutely to the point when asked about Fev in Canberra yesterday.
"Couldn't care less."

Do we really want Fev?
From Big Footy. If this is all half true, then would we even want to consider him?

watch for more to come out of this... it will finally be leaked.
I cannot say much here but I knew a few days ago that there was more to Fevs Brownlow night saga and it was related to Judd.
My source is close to Carlton and Fevs.
I have a lazy eye and I think it is now spreading throughout the rest of my body
