Gerard Whately volunteered:
“Stephenson pings a hamstring”

Maybe he thought he was being funny, who knows, but in light of how he's been banging on about it all week, it seemed like a thinly veiled, sarcastic shot at an individual player. This goes totally against what Adam Treloar was trying to explain on that very same show a fortnight ago, about the power of all types of media to create mental suffering for players.
Thanks for the insight P P
I personally can't imagine hating someone or an organisation which has never done me or my family any wrong. He doesn't present today on SEN as far as I'm aware and those comments that he made should be brought forward on he's program along with treloars comments and he should be made accountable.

I wish simon, that he could be made to address his poor judgment, but he's become quite a slippery character, moving between SEN and Fox Footy. I'll investigate as to how to contact Fox Footy or AFL360 about it.

Loopholes are exploited all the time

Jonathon Brown escape suspension in 2004 and could play the PF and GF because he was reported for engaging in rough play after the 1/4 time siren.

The technicality was that play stops at the siren and a player can not engage in rough play if the siren has sounded.

This.
Same as for Barry thug hall. So many times the AFL have chosen when to pull the trigger, when it suits their planned outcome.

No, Gerard has turned sour lately. He has turned into a typical whinging SJW. No doubt he hates Jordan Peterson as well.

Whately looks like a little mouse and with his snout you'll agree when you see him next.

Little prick would never say that about his own side...

Pretty disgraceful comment from Whately if that's what he said.

Because the AFL stuffed up with the wording of Stevo's penalty and is now trying to cover up its mistake, by saying there's a difference to being suspended under the integrity umbrella compared to Tribunal matters. They've probably just made up that up that new "rule" in the last few days!!

Oddly, strangely and unbelievably, the AFL's mistakes are to the "benefit" of a Collingwood player, for a change.

The wording for Stevo's penalty was :
"Stephenson will still be allowed to train with Collingwood but won’t be able to play in their next 10 matches. He will not be able to play in Collingwood’s VFL team during this time."
Yep, the reason this suspension is treated differently is because it is different. An integrity suspension is not the same as an MRP suspension.

In the end it has been applied to the letter of the ruling, as Gillon has said. The AFL actually had no real option. Maybe they could have said "Oh wait that's not what we meant, we'll adjust that now so Stevo can't play". That would have been far more ludicrous and is essentially what Whateley has asked for.

I have no problem with Whateley's opposition to this, it is silly that there are two different rules for different types of suspensions. I'm not sure I agree that the AFL should be able to change these rules on the fly because it suits them though.

I was angry at Stephenson when he was suspended and thought he was lucky to only receive a 10-match suspension but the faux outrage from Whateley and co is hilarious.

He's served his 10 match ban and obeyed by the rules of the suspension.

Whateley lost my respect last year when he was constantly carrying on about the "state of the game". If anything, he's lost his way since moved over to SEN from ABC.

^^I think it's more of a Fox thing. You can't be completely measured all of the time when helming their main footy show. Still, I think he mostly is. Certainly more so than anyone else I can think of.

It did take stevo 3-4 weeks to get going this year and last year . Don't have high expectations on him. I doubt he or Degoey will star . They'll play a cameo here or there. That'll be about it in weeks 1-2 of finals I think.
