You've missed my point Johnno.Johnson#26 wrote:They don't win you flags. They are never ones to do so (although on their day - Shane Ellen anyone? - they can fire). But m_83 has hit the nail on the head. The Aka's and Pickett's are the ones to win it for you.Colin Alexander wrote:Well do your Josh Mahoneys and your Dominic Cassisi's win you flags FFS??magpie_1983 wrote:your brodie hollands dont win u flags. M_83, as i understood, was implying that we don't need Brodie Holland cos he don't win you flags. He did mention that we should get rid of him in other posts. My point is that there are heaps of premiership players, like Cassisi and Mahoney, that don't exactly win you flags, but are still extremely valuable. No shit they don't win you flags!! Brodie won't win you a flag either, but it doesn't mean you give him away because of it.

it's like a cake....if you miss out on one ingredient it doesn't make it a cake...however, how little an ingredient may be it still plays a vital part in the process of having a cake ... if u get the drift.... Of course Broadie holland won't give us the premriership...but he is vital in our team... he can't play alone to win a preimriership it's all a combined effort... Broadie deserves to be in the team and needs to be in the team. He does some nice percenters...he's not exactly the slowest in the team... he also provides experience and grunt....he's no show pony he gets in the physical stuff and a lot of the time we missed a lot of that in our games last year. My mate plays for north and he indicated that Broadie is one of our most underated players and is so much better than just a bench player. I agree with him there. We need him in the action... he is a good player... i'm not saying he's our best he will never be a buckley...but he provides a good challenge and is a tough nut and has decent skills. If any of you have seen him train no one would question his work ethic and dedication to this team.

Too bloody right! A team of champions is a waste of money. Presty & Wakes wont win you flags, but who'd be without them? A team needs a balance of Brilliance & solidity. Sure, we wouldnt have won in '90 without Daics & Pants, but we needed Kerro & Gayfer just as much.
Brodie CAN be a match winner, but he plays a far more useful role when he negates an opposition match winner. Mick is smart enough to change the side to suit the opposition & conditions, and Brodie, along with Rhyce are two quality taggers who can take out some of the best players wearing boots.

Is Brisbane a team of champs or a champion team? I think the latter. They have worked hard together over the past ten or so seasons, and have gelled together well. St.Kilda, on the other hand, are just not together yet. There is no apparant 'teamness' yet.
As for us, we are a team. And that's just fine with me.

Woohoo! I was waiting for this one!GlovemanGayfer wrote:I personally think that Brodie is under rated in his importance to our midfield.
Seriously, why would you remove Brodie from the midfield? He just got there. Last year he served his apprenticeship as a tagger, and managed to win a lot of his own ball. I say give him more of a midfield role - leave the tagging to Shaw/Cole/Davis/whoever and make holland a key member of our engine room. He has the pace, toughness and work ethic.
