Maxy played great tonight. As did Goldsack. I for one hope both can fit into our finals campaign. I don't see why not, Maxy has been able to move forward and pinch the odd goal on occasion.RICHO1991 wrote:yeah i thought Maxwell was outstanding tonight ^^^^^ love the way he goes about his footy.. people who doubt are blind and stupid
WELLLINGHAM ROVES IT....AND KICKS THE GOAL!!!!

Pleasing win, good to see Maxy talking to the players before walking off. Week at a time. We had to win for the mental aspect of beating them. They are a good side, if we make it to the GF and it's against them we have to kick the goals we missed. We dominated in all areas but the scoreboad.
Heater's run to spoil was fantastic.

That was an awesome win!
We pulverised them everywhere but the scoreboard.
The Collingwood clamp had them bamboozled.
Yes they got a run on in the second going over our zone but I thought this was from our players not setting it up quick enough after we scored a behind!
Lets hope them planets keep aligning and lock into place on that one day in September!

Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Great, great win, Watched it last night and again this morning. For those fans at the game - very well done. The atmosphere really came across over the tv and had those imbeciles in the commentary box running for cover.
As for the performance - as many others have said (and Malcolm Blight had to admit begrudingly) that was realistically a 7 to 8 goal win against one of the greatest teams this league has ever seen. That's the context I place this in - we beat a team that is one of the most talented, skilful and deep in history, and not only beat them, we absolutely destroyed them.
Now, are there negatives? Sure. The goal kicking needs to be fixed in a hurry. And we can't continue to have these patches where occasionally we lose our way and let the opposition have a sniff. But overall, Collingwood arrived for real last night.
I have to say that in my 30 odd years of watching the game I have never seen a team swarm to the ballcarrier like the Pies do. It is awesome to watch, and frightening for opposition teams - and it creates so much perceived pressure that every team is succumbing to it, even one as experienced and talented as Geelong. James Hird said on On the Couch that Collingwood's forward pressure is the greatest he's ever seen - and I'm beginning to believe him.
As for the individuals - we know who the best midfield in the comp is now, and it ain't Geelong. Didak was sublime. Swan kicked Ablett's ass. Daisy was brilliant. Pendlebury was devastating. Ball is an absolute warrior. We had so many winners all over the ground but when you have a midfield doing what these guys did last night, it makes everyone's job that much easier.
Oh special mention to the backline, especially when Ben Reid went out. Maxy and Harry O'Brien were outstanding, and how good is Goldsack getting?
Great times to be a Pies fan, that's for sure. Let's keep this black and white avalanche rolling through to Grand Final day and beyond!
