Well written. Get a life.piedys wrote:Was it a great win? Yes, a very critical one too, in the context of the season. Second on the ladder after an injury season from hell!
Go Pies, Go Buckley! Side by Side!
Rest of you negative d!cks, go barrack for the scum.
2nd place at present, and we were kick away from losing our spot in top 4, which is efffectively curtains for 2012.
Yes the injury run sucks arse. We know. On that we all agree.
Please be as positive as you like, that's fine.
But don't go bagging other posters because they dare suggest something is rotten in Denmark.
Our disposal stinks, players turned up for 3rd quarter like they've spent the 1/2 time break getting blind at a pub?
The team is carrying an underperforming overated, overpaid egomaniac moron [and his idiot father]. No names though!
As for what goes on in the coaches box, well, nobody really knows, as the players can't seem to settle on a game plan for 4 quarters to execute the task.
A few of us on the forum find this somewhat perplexing, since it is now August. Particulary when other sides are finding form.
So you'll have to excuse us for being a little anxious and cranky.

Seriously though, and I am not directing this at you specifically, instead of coming onto this forum and spewing poison and bile, posters should offer considered assessments and maybe even suggestions.
You have to agree that at least half of what gets posted is bordering on abuse of our football club. I, for one (and there appear to be others), don't think it's justified.
I'm over the emotional, knee-jerk reactions.
Go Pies!!

^ The game should have been a draw. O'Brien spilt the mark, there was no real contact there, the replay showed minimal to no contact. We got away with one, I think the umpires truely hate Milne as well, they are always on to him for swearing, high knocks and general rascal behaviour.

2010 is past and thats that.
This list wont play like that because it simply can't. That was one of those rare, planets in alignment, years when all our champions had career best years, all our second tier players had career best years and we had the luxary of depth and zero injuries.
Aside from the terrific Geelong 07 and 09 teams, Essendon 2000 and Carlton 95 (even though they were rorting the salary cap) you will struggle to find any sides as dominant as the Pie's that year.
Teams work you out and your personell changes but the challenge is for the Pies to gain an advantage in some other way. Hopefully we can do just that.

Davis, L.Brown, Ball, Krakouer, Tarrant, Didak and Johnson were all apart of last years gf side.
Two have departed while the others have missed a tonne of football.
That's a lot of experience and proven ability not available this season.
Throw in Macaffer and the injuries to Keefe (who would have been very handy at either end) and the impressive young Williams and being second on the ladder aint a bad effort.

might have been minimal, but it was there and his eyes were on Harry not the footy. Soft but there. Seen the exact same paid against Davis in the GWS game todayMonco Matt wrote:^ The game should have been a draw. Just one more thing.I'd like to know why our players kick the ball so high up in the air. They do it every time they go onto the forward line, and they even do it when they switch play from one side of the ground to the other.Because they kick it so high,it takes an eternity to come down, and it always gives the opposition the chance to cut the ball off or knock it away.I don't know why Buckley and the coaching staff haven't worked on this, because it seems like such an obvious problem to me.

Geezus.
I did a cardiac stress test a couple of years ago and got made to stop when my blood pressure hit 200 before my heart rate did.
Games like that may not give me a heart attack but a stroke is a viable option.
I said to the bloke behind me at 1/4 time, we're playing shite but we're only 4 points down. Then the second quarter was good, then the last half.
I'll take the win, the Saints are better than their ladder position and were playing for their season. Our tilt at the finals is starting, we're trying different things.

Great win tonight. Very happy with the result. St Vomit have been one of the form sides over the last month or so, and there were plenty on here during the week saying it was a danger game, and it was.
In reality, we should have had an unassailable lead at half time, 13 scoring shots to 2 in the second should have resulted in an 8 goal lead.
Have only seen the "controversial" free kick the once, in real time from behind the goals in level 3. It looked like a free to me, font on contact & eyes not on the ball. However, I really wish it was dodgy. Couldn't happen to a bigger flog.
Have to say some of our disposal by foot was pretty poor at times, and almost cost us in the end.
Good sides win these games, that's why we won. It was a must win, with Hawthorn & West Coast losing. Might actually have to barrack for The Scum against the Swans tomorrow.
And anyone who reckons Jolly is past it should be watching another sport. Thank God he's got another year to go.
Anyway, Go Pies!!!
