Lots of experts on here not wanting Lynch, but would prefer Martin.

If Martin was any good, he'll be getting a regular game for the dees. Where did Melbourne finish this year?

Malthouse is after Lynch as well, so he can't be that bad. I don't hear anyone else going after Martin.

None of these rumours are conclusive. I'd not be surprised if they're all going off of the same source, and that that source is just gessing. The number of deals that are done on the first day of trade week? Very few. Now that we have a trade month, you'd expect there to be even less.

I'd be very surprised if we signed Lynch without first at least looking at other options. Given that trade week hasn't even started, I'd be shocked if we'd already agreed to sign Lynch.

And one expert who thinks that Martin isn't any good and we should sign Lynch .

I don't need to be an expert, the proof is there for everyone to see. Lynch getting a regular game for a Premiership contender this year. Martin playing for Casey Scorpions.

Lynch is a forward who can help out in the ruck the Leigh Brown role
Similar in size and height to Dawes plays a similar role

The two year contract to give Ceglar and Witts time to develop is the same strategy used when L Brown was recruited to give Reid N Brown and Dawes time to develop.

Martin 25 and cannot get a game at Melbourne maybe keep C Wood 24 years old and cannot get a game at Collingwood

It's a no brainier. Lynch will be an excellent option as a ruck forward. Will free up Dawes to play forward.

Let's add a few more facts to the equation:

- Leigh Brown couldn't get a game for North when we picked him up
- Most players struggle to get a game when they're injured
- Stefan Martin is several years younger than Lynch

I'm not saying either one is definitely the better option. It depends a bit on what we're after. Martin definitely has more ability in the ruck, Lynch as a forward. If we want a Leigh Brown type, Lynch is pretty much spot on. If we want someone who can ruck a bit more, then Martin's a better option.

You'd need to be a real expert to say that Lynch is clearly the best option and anyone who considers Martin is an idiot.

Richo on the pre GF show said the deal is done...Q tip to Pies for 2.

If Lynch is coming Wood is no longer required. GC need a ruckman until there boys build.

So Wood and First rounder for Caddy?

Lynch has achieved 20+ games in 8 out of the last 9 seasons.

Like Brown he isn't fashionable but he is durable.

Would seem to fill one of our needs while we are still very much in contention for a flag and would allow Dawes to flourish or wither purely as a forward.

I'm open to the idea.

I don't see how it impacts on Wood's spot. Lynch isn't a first ruck. Wood's only a first ruck.

With Lynch in the team, we still need a backup first ruck for Jolly. Maybe that's Witts or Ceglar, but I don't think it's Lynch.
