I won't read anything more into this than we just had a bad game.
Geelong smashed us in the contested ball, which was a huge shock considering how the two teams had done in all their previous games. Also, tackling was shocking. I know we had a decent number, but how many broken tackles were there?
A lot of guys just had bad games. It will get better.

Last night was the reverse of last week. It wasn't looking good as soon as Armstrong was named and it was predictable. My wallet is fatter and I have to thank Armstrong for that he is a spud that should not even be on our list. The Cats were primed to win and were on their game from the bounce and we were off and we simply haven't beaten anyone yet. We will see where we are at if we bounce back next week.

Simple really. You line up a spectator directly behind the goals between the two big sticks. You pretend you're kicking the ball to that spectator rather than trying to line up the goals themselves. If you can't kick the ball to an individual player you don't deserve to be an AFL player because that's what you do every day of the week in training drills. If Travis Cloke is reading this don't send me the cheque. Send the cheque to Tony Lockett.Kwah-LeBaire wrote:They've tried everything except shock treatment.Sensei Grundy wrote:This friggin idiot Cloke has 8 or so metres without a goalkeeper and crossbar and stuffs it. WTF is wrong with the idiot? Should we employ a psychotherapist to help him?

No sugar coating this one, it was a shocker. Players reading their own press? We knew the dark days would come but they're still hard to take. Not going to bother analysing what went wrong, we simply went in with the wrong mindset. Good fight back but that's almost always too late. Lessons learnt, we now dust ourselves off and move on to the next challenge!

I'll be watching vfl tonight and see who puts their hand up.
While we are critical of Clokes misses and Whites highly hormonal moody form, they have done that while we have been winning.
In reality (and as Buckley explained in the presser) with our lack of contested ball winning, general intennsity, poor forward structure, and losing our defensive structure, that is what cost us.
I'd blame the mids more than anyone. But the whole team was off.
Dwyer & Armstrong will be likely to lose their positions for Ramsay and Seeds. And it would be better that we play the youth with upside. Not players who are not going to grow our side.
I thought Witts did as much as Gault has when we dominated general play. I think he has to be given a couple of weeks to get up to speed. Witts was excellent in the later parts of last year.
Assuming DeGoey goes well again tonight at VFL would like him to come in. Suggest for PK??

Broken tackles, how many broken tackles? I can't remember seeing a poorer tackling performance. Caddy alone must've slipped 10.
It was very hard to watch that first half and I was amazed that we got to within 23 points early in the last.....and with momentum our way Cloke misses a sitter, an absolute sitter. I dislike your footballing ways Travis, I really do.

Disastrous night of football but there were some positives;
1. Jack Crisp - Big, Strong at the ball, can break away from the pack and his kicking seems to be OK.
2. Nathan Brown is our best Full Back. Frost can be useful as a stopper on mobile talls but lacks the brute strength to take on the likes of Hawkins.
Leave the gorilla work to Brown!!
3. Tom Langdon - Clean and strong. Could he move into the cente for us to assist with clearance work or is he too valuable as a consistent defender?
4. Travis Cloke - Yes I know his miss from 20 meters stopped the teams momentum but I thought his CHF game was great. He was able to run and contest and he seems to be back to his running best. Leave him at CHF changing with White until Darcy Moore can take over from White.
Plenty of bad things to come out of the game but lets not focus on those today. Richmond to beat next week to re-establish the season.

Thought Witts was good, Gault missing wasn't the difference.Golden Gordon wrote:And Gault. David King said that he thought Gault was providing us with some forward structure. Let's hope the kids learn a few lessons from that reality check. Bucks looked ropeable in the box during the last quarter when those turnovers just killed us. I expect training will be very tough this week.DT56 wrote:I think Ramsay was missed tonight.
The night in a word: FRUSTRATING.
