not disgusting. i feel you are overreacting. yes, it was terribly disappointing to lose but it was not disgusting. granted, we should have won the game; we were on top of the stats counts that mattered and save for the third quarter inaccuracy we pretty much dealt to the reigning premier. if you had have said to me at the start of the year we'd be so close i'd have laughed at you.

what the last two games suggest is that we are not that far off. we had a few players who went missing today so it was pleasing that we were not blown out of the park. tweak a couple of things and we will be more than competitive come finals time.

Focus on the inaccurate kicking and the loss of the game if you want. The real story from this game is that we were better than the Hawks. We didn't just hang on or get lucky, we convincingly outplayed them both in close and even with our ball use. We are a top 4 chance and with continued improvement some chance of going all the way. This was one of the best performances we've had in the last 4 years, hands down.

This following on from last week when we outplayed the Dockers for almost the entire game. We're not expected to be this good yet and with a young team we will be even better by year's end, who knows how far we can take it.

I'm excited!

why did the scumbags swallow the whistle when there were blatant frees for Collingwood? I guess by the first 4 seconds of the match was a dead giveaway
in that it was going to get mighty ugly fir us.
The scumbags were out of there league tonight and whorethorn lead them on a merry dance. I guess Collingwood play fare and the rest will be better of for it.

He had a bad kicking night and he gave away a handball that, in context, just about cost the game but he kept at it. It'd be good if a few of the others who were having down nights learn from his effort.
Yeah but those easy misses are just heart breakers and more importantly can kill off our momentum.

He does himself no favours because the rest of his game was excellent but against top line opposition we can't afford it.

It's getting to a stage where we can't win without him and can't win with him in these big games.

It's a cruel joke.

Surely you jest; toovs was one of our better small defenders.

I thought Marley had a quiet one if anyone
Williams 27 touches.

Toovey 6 possessions, Rioli 5 goals.
I agree that Toovey was dreadful but beware of getting excited by Williams' stats - on many occasions tonight his ball-handling was poor and his skill errors were as damaging in their own way as the misses up forward. Great trier but I'm still concerned that he lacks the close ball-control required to be a top-class small defender.

I thought the defense was pretty good tonight, even allowing for Maynard as a rookie. Kid made a couple of mistakes but he'll learn a lot from that. Williams, Langdon and Tooves all very good.
Yeah there seems to be a bit of Toovey hate going around, how many of rioli's goals were directly his fault? I think cyril got a few gifts to be frank, and he didn't miss one shot. Only had 10 or 12 touches I think.

If they didn't stuff about in the forward 50 in the third it would be academic

Yes, indeed, that sums it up really well. We're a football side to be feared. Even good sides have bad kicking days and lose against quality opposition. that's what just happened. But, in truth, I think we're nearly there. By the end of this year we might even shake the earth in the finals.

See i don't get people who blame umpires, unwilling to accept that their side was beaten by a better team. I am willing to accept that Hawks just found a way. They kicked the goals we missed. Does this mean we are doomed? nope, we learn from it, move on to next week.

Does it mean we make changes? ... probably, I (like a few) feel Buckley maybe made a mistake playing two first gamers tonight, maybe needed just that extra experienced body against a side like Hawthorn...would that have won us the game? who knows. But like i said before, if someone had said to you tonight that Collingwood would play their best match against Hawthorn in almost fours years woule you have taken it? ...beat getting pants by 10 goals.

2 free kicks gifted by players other than his opponent, kicked another against Langdon, another against Toovey, another against Williams. But let's just slag off at Toovey, that'll be amusing.

You might be one of the few.

Williams is in great form.

Used the ball at 77%.

He was Toovey's opponent though.

The others were just covering for him.

6 possessions isn't enough either.

Brown a key defender had 14.

Awesome game of footy, one thing about this team is they're never out of the game.

Since that loss to the cats we've been playing some great footy.

There should be a rule that you cant post after a loss for a couple of days, let the emotions settle a bit and reduce the crazy comments.

Well said. I think also it was Hawthorn's leg speed that just at key moments got us. I know it is ageing and maybe in a year may well be gone with the likes of Mitchell and Hodge. But still that run of the likes of Hill in particular just got us now and then.
