A relief that we held on. Now strongly in the camp that we can give up the Anzac Day game (winding back the whole round would be even better).
Very pleased to see de Goey bounce back so well after a terrible performance last week. He was excellent.
Adams, very disappointing. One of our players who should be fresh, but gave us little. Performed below Brown's standard.
Moore also had a poor game. Need more from him, as above performed poorer than the player he replaced, Reid.
Crocker and Mayne. Playing these two too similar players was a mistake for me. On the day, Mayne was much better. Hope to only see one of them play next week, Mayne would get the nod on form.
Overall, our team defence across the field was lacking. Put it down to tiredness I guess, but we need to be better than that. Offensively we were fine, but simply allowed too many easy goals.

And he sounded very flat when Stephenson kicked the winning goal.Suffer in your jocks,Dwayno!inxs88 wrote:Dwayne Russell: "in the house, abracadabra, those watching around the planet, shall the Pies run out of legs, Zorko!!". I sent an email of complaint into Fox Footy. I go without fundamental necessities to get their telecasts and I don't expect to put up with such rubbish from them. Channel 7 commentators maybe, but I expect unbiased commentary from Fox Footy, because I bloody well pay heavily for it.swoop42 wrote:I haven't got Foxtel, thought I'd download the game later confident in victory and decided to use the time instead to give my unit a much needed clean.
Fired up the computer, went to the AFL site and FMD we're only 8pts ahead half way through the last quarter.
Critical that we hung on for the win but boy oh boy some spots in the team must surely have opened up on the back of that performance.
I look forward to watching it.

Yeah we looked tired during the second half, had players coming back from injury, but we did kick our highest score of the year, we looked much better going forward i thought, but as melliot wrote, the defensive structure was lacking and they did seem to be able to score more freely against us than previous weeks. I reckon bucks backed the players to out score the lions and although we got a scare, this is a massive step forward in the right direction this season.

Just watched the last few minutes again.
What a great passage of play that epitomizes how far we have come since last season. The big Cox actually marked the ball cleanly defensively in a pack, kicked it in the direction of Philipps, who kept it alive, who rolled it towards JDG, who fed it onto to Stephenson.
All that's good about this season - players coming of age, TEAM WORK and a great recruit adding X-factor!!!

I also don't think there were any problems with selection tonight. I'm surprised to be saying it, but Mayne and Blair both played their role. Moore probably wasn't ready to be playing in the 1's, but we really had no other option with Reid out..
he or she don't think there were a problems with selection but Mayne and Blair played their role?
