He’s been ripping it up as a bottom ager for SA in U18 championships.
He can’t be selected this year and we have no rights to him at the draft but he looks a super talent in the 2024 draft.
So then there will be two Sam Draper's from SA playing in 2025; okay....

Not quite, Arlo’s brother is Sid Draper.

Yes, good pick up. I meant to write Sid and inadvertently peeled off the Essendon player. Anyway, had a look at the U18 Championships and he does most things on the footy field very well. Still a bottom ager, so he will be right at the pointy end in the 2024 draft.

They can look a million dollars on the training track and not perform at all on match day. You can also argue that in order to win games of AFL football you need to play your most experienced team, but the reality is we are nowhere near the performances of the teams above us. The only way our club is going to go forward as a team is by playing guys like Draper, who looks likes a big bodied mid to me with more pace than Lipinski. I'd be looking to playing him in the second half of the season with guys like Harrison, McMahon and Johnson, who all look like having the goods to play AFL footy, but don't quite have the preparation yet to play immediately.
A succinct summary.
Given the prospect of having Draper, McInnes, Macrae, Allan, Harrison and Dean banging on the door of senior selection by the 2nd half, it'll ensure the VFL team is going to be a good to watch this season.
I'd expect the Nicks VFL Magpies sub to have plenty of stories for supporters to lean into, and get excited over.
Bumping this as I want to see us retain Arlo for 2024. He's had a poor run with injury, not ability. I suspect if he is cut from the primary list, he'd be a strong candidate to be rookie listed, but surely Adelaide or Port might consider the same.

According to Rookieme https://central.rookieme.com/afl/2023/1 ... 8-academy/ , arguably the state’s top prospect next year is midfielder Sid Draper, who captained South Adelaide’s Under 18 flag this year. He already broke through for a League berth.

Arlo suffered an AC joint injury in an Under-19 curtain raiser against WA on Grand Final day, leaving him with an interrupted first AFL pre-season the same year he was drafted, 2021.
He then built a solid 2022 season.
Then before he could get going was a late pre-season concussion delayed his return until Round 7 before he went on to play a string of 15 out of 16 possible VFL games.

I really see him evolving into the versatility that WHE provides, so Pies, stick with him! (now waiting for the delisting announcement 2 minutes after this post)

Hopefully they'll find a rookie spot for him unless he's indicated he wants to return to S.A.
Be interesting to see where his brother ends up who is touted to be acquired in the first round.
