Rohan Marshall get votes for his role in the win over a ruckless Sydney
Just another ruck dominating Grundy
No wonder the swans sent there #1 man Kennear Beetson to try and do the deal to get Marshall to Sydney
The swans would be close on unbeatable with a real ruck

Interesting SEN each week have a team of the week based off purely that weeks highest champion data points
So far this year after 17 rounds Grundy has been the ruck once
Gawn 4 times
Marshall 3 times
O’Brien twice
Then 7 other rucks once each
So based purely on that Gawn is 4 times the ruck Grundy is

Just the one goal, only the one goal assist, a mere 10 score involvements, a trifling 20 disposals, 5 intercept possessions, no more than 6 tackles (admittedly, a game high for the Swans) and a paltry 11 of the Swans' 12 hit-outs to advantage for the AFL's 18th-best ruckman today.

McLean was, of course, the standout ruckman, yet again - he had the one hit-out to advantage from 18 ruck contests: the guy is a star.

So your excited he played “ok” against a team who have finished in the bottom 4 for the past 7 seasons ?
The bar is getting lower and lower for him to step over

Champion data team of the week
Cameron named at ruck with 2nd highest rating for the season achieved by a ruckman (Gawn has highest rated game for the season)
5 swans players named in the team none of them named Grundy
Cameron now has twice been named ruckman if the week which is twice as many times as Grundy has been

Coaches' votes again for Thor. Gee, a lot of his hitouts went straight down the throat of his own team - no losing the clearances 6 to 16 against a team without a ruckman for the Great One. Remember when Grundy used to get 60 hitouts in a game and Treloar and Adams fumbled their way backwards and yoiu blamed Thor? Cameron is hitting to a midfield boasting some of the best clearance players ever assembled and they still can't work out what he's doing.

As for the comparisons, remind me again - how many times this season have Gawn and Cameron been "ruckman of the week" against Thor? It's amazing how a genuinely great ruckman joinging the,m this year has taken the Swans from also-rans to premiership favourites.

Here’s probably the best stat of all time
Winning % of teams winning hit outs in 2024 is a whopping 39%
It shows exactly how useless the hit out stat is
Teams are coached to shark the tap work of rival rucks
Melbourne got thrashed in the ruck and won easy
The swans mids despite Grundy’s interference wins the tap work of all rucks
Even with his coaches votes he was the 6th rated swan by coaches votes but by champion data he was the 10th rated swans player
Grundy could go down tomorrow and miss the rest of the season and the swans would still be premiership betting favourites

Ok I’ll leave you with this
Season 2022 his last for Collingwood he gets injured Anzac Day we’re 3-3
While he is out we got 10-2
The team went from being barely competitive with Grundy in it to near unbeatable when he was out injured
We all know what happened in 2023 to us with no Grundy
Just face the undeniable facts
Teams win despite Grundy not because of Grundy

^ Teams lucky enough to have Grundy giving them an armchair ride from the ruck are going at 82.4% in 2024.

Career wise Grundy has a win rate of 54%
But I will acknowledge he’s leading 2 stats this season
#1 in total clangers
#1 for Ave clangers per game
He’s 4th in total hit outs and 7th for ace hit outs per game and 11th for hit outs to advantage per game
Just goes to show you how well that midfield is playing to make up for his very average performances

Interesting on AFL 360 tonight they debated ruckmen
Top 5 rucks at the contest Grundy wasn’t in them
Top 5 rucks post contest Grundy wasn’t in them
Go and find the it on fox footy and listen
The numbers don’t always tell the truth and in Grundy’s case they lie dramatically
Again I’ll state with certainty the swans win despite Grundy not because of Grundy
Also there 3 main mids Heeney Warner Rowbottom are all ranked in top 25 players this season (add Blakey and Gulden in and they have 5 of the top 25 rated players this season)
That’s why there winning

Mods might as well shut down this thread now after todays performance there’s nothing left to say
The Big O totally owned the hack Grundy and was instrumental in the lions winning
If you where watching the footage of the half time break watching Dean Cox absolutely berate Grundy in the change rooms you would completely understand why Sydney will be the 3rd club in as many years to search for anyway to offload him come seasons end

You're going to look really silly when they give Thor the Norm Smith Medal and the Gary Ayres award.

Dean Cox wouldn't know what a ruckman was if he tripped over one - he was soft as melted butter when he played.

^Now that’s hilarious
Dean Cox was universally recognised as the best ruckman of his era
6 time all Australian and a premiership ruckman
Not only won’t he win a norm smith (the way the swans are going he will be lucky to play more than 2 finals unless that midfield finds a new way to win the ball)
Cox was very animated while dealing with Grundy so much so Grundy’s head was hanging down
If I was you I would start thinking what his next club will be

Did you not watch Cox play? Judd, Embley, Cousins and Fletcher made him look good a few times. He won a premiership by accident, just once - the other time his team should have won, he was torn a new one by Darren Jolly and Jason Ball.
