- Fevola definitely to be gone from Carlton. Blues want him out, no matter what they get in return or how much of his contract they must continue to pay.
- Jolly looks to be going to Collingwood.
- Collingwood out of the running fror Fevola now that they seem to be getting Jolly.
Now we are not getting Fevola I think I'm wavering to want to get him!! Oh god help me (despite being an atheist) One minute I want him & the next I don't....
LOL I feel the same way. Earlier in the week I couldn't stomach the thought now I feel if we miss out on him I'll be disappointed.
If the cost is acceptable take the chance I say!

This is an area that perhaps will still allow us to land both Fevola and Jolly.
As for your concerns regarding giving up pick 14, I guess if that's all we had to give up to secure Jolly then you could take comfort in our belief we have secured two 200 game players for ourselves in Sidebottom and Beams last year.
Add them to the other promising but not yet proven kids then perhaps nows the perfect time to add one or two proven experienced players to that group.
As for what might secure us Fevola assuming pick 14 is used on Jolly you'd think we would have to cover the majority if not all his wage and perhaps offer them Dawes and or Fraser(both would be expendable with Fevola and Jolly at the club).
Fair enough on Jolly for pick 14 - you could get me over the line on that as much as it stings. But I would say by definition that will rule out the latter.
If Fevola doesn't come to Collingwood then Dawes should definitely be retained.
Need a big gorilla in the goal square next season.

Who doesn't.
But is Fev going to deliver that for us or is he going to go off the rails again and put us further away from the prize especially if we give away the farm to try to get him?
Just like Aker, he was not wanted so anything more than a second round pick is not worth it.

Nulla,
Based on what you know then, would you want him at the Pies and if so, given the obvious risks involved, how much should we give for him?
To me it sounds more and more like anything above a second round draft pick may come back to bite us on the you know where.
My opinion on his character is that he is a clown when fueled and Fev knows it. It is far easier to curb that part of his life than it is for someone like Barry Hall to stop his habitual bulliness attitude.
I would sooner someone like Fevs to bring over than someone with an attitude like Hall or say a Wayne Carey type who would sleep with his fellow footballers partner at any chance... and there is an ex coach floating around with the same tag against his name.
I would take Fev in with what I know... but with a clause in the contract on alcohol as I cannot see him fouling up when sober.... if any club that took him did not have such a clause they would be silly.... on the other hand try putting a clause into a contract for thug like Barry Hall or a wife sleepers contract.

I know the ABC footy team is respected but why would getting Jolly prohibit us getting Fev?
Doesn't make any sense to me. We can always trade Davis to WC for their pick and pass on to the Blues.
Anyway, the Blues are quite desperate to get something for Fev........or to get his contract paid out.
Again, I don't think we should go for this guy, but it sure as hell is possible. Money not an issue.

In any case........it seems obvious that Fev will end up at Sydney doesn't it?
$1.6 million over the next two years.....they can easily afford this.
They have just lost their big name forward, need another big name, great fit for Fev and the Swans. No way he'll end up with the Pies

A Fevola IQ test might not rate, and he's pretty immature, but there's a refreshing honesty about him, it's a lovable trait!
He knows he's not the brightest, the poor devil ~ think back to the other night when he was trying to have a conversation with James Hird (Mr Stuck-up Himself) ~ 'wot, aren't I brainy enough to talk to you', or something like that.
He can't grow brains, but he can grow-up, learn to reflect, learn from mistakes, he'll be fine then
Gotta get him!

^ I'd take one Hird over five Fevolas any day.
And when do you finally expect him to "grow up"? He's 29 now - if the penny aint dropped now, it never will.
Much prefer Jolly to that other self centred tosser.
Jolly will value add to the team's development. Fevola will not.

James Hird was being corralled into conversation, no doubt against his will, with a drunk. It's not a easy thing to handle at any time, let alone on camera. My sympathies were all with Hird.
And there's actually nothing wrong with having a brain.

Yes though a few posters here lately wouldn't agree with you. Don't miss what you don't have I guess...

Sorry mods but I think this is worth posting in GD for at least five mins. If you don't agree, punt it to the trade forum forthwith but it's breaking news.

Seems that we won't sell the farm to get him. Choice now with Carlton as to whether they retain him (and look stupid) or accept something a little less than expected.
Just goes to show that we have absolutely no idea about what's really happening inside the Club. Having said that, it's fun to speculate and see what everyone thinks.

No room at Collingwood, Brendan Fevola
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/n ... public_rss
COLLINGWOOD captain Nick Maxwell has declared wayward forward Brendan Fevola is not wanted at the Magpies.
In a candid interview, Maxwell said the Magpies' forward stocks were already deep enough to attain success.
"There is no room," he said.
"We've got some outstanding young blokes in our forward line and they're complementing each other very well at the moment.
"John Anthony had his first full season up forward and he kicked the most goals for us.
"Travis Cloke's come off some horrific injuries and he's just going to get better and better. He still is just 22 years old and he's holding down centre half-forward.
