He wouldn’t be the first 20 / 21 year old who got ahead of himself at the elite level of any sport.
The good news is, you don’t lose your ability overnight.
Get the head right and the body will follow.

My first post for quite some time. Really don't know why I bother, as none of my fellow posters ever respond. If it's because I am a women, then shame, shame, shame. Perhaps bear in mind that I have been watching the Pies for longer than most of you have been born, so I think I have learned a thing or two about our game. Our first quarter was outstanding but I really don't know how we can dismiss only 1 miserable goal thereafter. I HATE no goal quarters, and last night we had two of them. Our forward line totally sucked. Where were all our usual goal kickers? No goals from DeGoey, Hoskin-Elliott and others. Don't know the inside story as regards Stephenson, but we need him back. Punish him in some other way if needed, but don't leave him out of the side. We supporters are all entitled to know what is going on there.

I've posted this before, but now do so again. Jeremy Howe is probably the best marker in our side. Why isn't he at CHF or FF? He is very valuable as a backman, but I think there others who could take his place. Bucks, think about giving him a go up forward.

I'm pretty sure almost no one on Nick's would have known that.

When he's played up forward he hasn't done so well. He's an AA-quality backman and a mediocre (at best) forward.

It is easier to mark the ball as a floating backman, coming in as 3rd man up, with little interference to stop him. If he was a forward then he would have an opposition backman (if not 2) trying to stop him. Leave him back where he can be most useful.
I like Mihocek, he presents well (and then again, and again, and again) and creates a target. Not sure re Cameron, perhaps the smaller nippier full forward leading out. Too many kicks were bombed to the hot spot to be picked off, we needed more movement.
And talking about team balance, not sure why Jack Magden got a game. Roughead to take Lynch, Moore to take Riewoldt, Howe as a floating big man, not sure we needed another big body in Jack, perhaps a smaller runner would have been better.

I think Howe was used mainly as a forward at Melbourne and didn't do so well.
He has been quite handy as a defender so Bucks is playing to his strengths.

Well, it was the effort of our backmen that saved us from defeat, Jack included...

He was mainly a forward at Melbourne. In (probably) his second last year, Roos put him back and he did very well. He came to the Pies on the promise that he'd be played forward, but if he's no good there it doesn't help him or the club.

On Stevo, I don’t understand what motivates people to want a conspiracy theory. When I heard he had glandular fever, I thought to myself it was very likely he either wouldn’t be able to play - or might be useless when he did - this year. Assuming he had glandular fever (and I see no reason to doubt that - plenty of young footballers over the years have got it around this age), there is just no need to look for any more sinister issue.

Clearly he was underdone due to glandular fever.
Remember the practice match earlier this year and he struggled massively that game. Didn't surprise that he was overlooked for Round 1. The break has probably done him good, but still coming from a long way back at this stage.

Yep, I can vouch for the fact that the effects from glandular fever can last for months.

Tried up forward ...didn't work that well.

But if he’s named as an emergency, it means he’s fit enough to play if called upon.

I dint know you were a woman either, fellow woman here, I mean how is one to know? That’s actually offensive. Lots of posts on these kinds of boards go unanswered. I’ve had plenty.
As for Stevo, maybe the rumours of the club not happy with his behaviour means he did t give his all into getting better from glandular fever and so wasn’t fit enough to be considered. I have no idea, but I doubt he would be out unless he wasn’t fit to play, in such an important game.
And Howe, well in my mind he’s the best defender In the league by far, he was born to it, and defence is harder than forward, its others that need to step up. How many did Jordy miss? I have my doubts about Jaime, much as I love him, and Thomas hasn’t impressed me much ever, Micohek tried but needed support. Our defence is great, A fit Setvo would be the difference.
