Indeed. With all the negativity swirling around footy of late: Essendon, illicit drugs and now this I've been reflecting on footy and how it's supposed to be for enjoyment, entertainment and for escaping the pressures of life, yet so many people seem determined to shroud it in the very shit and negativity it's supposed to help us escape from.RudeBoy wrote:Absolute tragedy.
It's a reminder that footy is just a game.

Can we please keep this thread on topic.Dave The Man wrote:Well, I doubt other games be Postponned but with the Crows might ask for a week or 2 to sort there stuff out,
Like who is going to the Crows Head Coach Now?
Any news on a new coach or Sunday's game will be covered in Nick's Other AFL.
Donny.
It's a game. Enjoy it.

Horrible news. I am deeply upset by this - like many others, I watched him play in 1983 and he quickly became my favourite player, for too short a time.
For the record, amongst many other feats, whilst at Collingwood, he received 7 Brownlow votes, finished 3rd in the Copeland in his only season (no mean feat on a list that boasted, amongst others, Tony Shaw, Peter Daicos, Greg Phillips, Geoff Raines, David Cloke, Billy Picken, Denis Banks, Peter McCormack, Rene Kink, Ricky Barham and Mark Williams, Craig Davis, Mike Richardson, "Gubby" Allen, John Annear and Graham Teasdale) and, in only his 19th game, rained on Kevin Bartlett's 400th game parade, with a 31 disposal, 3 goal, best on ground performance that, no doubt, still gives KB nightmares.
RIP Phil.

I remember him well from the 80's.

Terrible, shocking & devastating news. Sad for everyone obviously family, friends & club.
I too was lucky enough to see him play in his first year at Collingwood & he was a genuine talent. I was very upset when he & John Annear left our club that was part of the Richmond Collingwood wars.
Very very sad & troubling.
RIP
