Tell me have you looked at a collingwood list in the last 15 years and seen the young talent we have right now.
Our reserves made the prelim final against sides with twice their body weight.
Maxy has turned 26 this year and what was he like when he was 21? A dud and should've be delisted ect ect ect....
I understand that the carrot of fev and jolly is there but tbh to do it we are going to have to part with both our first and second round draft picks as well as 2/3 of our young prospects, prob Brown and Dawes.
If we can get Jolly for cheap do it, but Fev to me is going to cost way to much.

Well done Collingwood. Looks like another big name player slipping through without us even looking into fev.
Maxwell is kidding himself if he thinks Chris Dawes is or ever will be a power forward as good as fev. Wake up Nick.

if our list is so awful, as many of the "get fev" crowd seem to think, then just adding one player wont make any real difference.
and remind when the getting of a 29yo "gun" player resulted in an instant flag in the last 20 years?

I don't think Fev will actually cost anyone that much in the end.
Carlton are desperate to get rid of him. He's gone, forget it, they'll take what they can get in the end.
So I'd expect a few people to be saying no and just waiting to see what happens, because make no mistake, Fev's asking price will come down the longer trade week goes on.
Having said that, I very much doubt Nick Maxwell would have said anything without knowing exactly what the board's position was on this issue. He is not a dill.
Unlike Brendan Fevola, who chose Brownlow Medal night, a fortnight out from trade week, to disgrace himself in front of the entire football community - not just his own club but 15 others too.

Meh, predictable captain's talk, backing his troops, I'm not getting sucked into that one. Might hold some sway but ultimately it's not Nick's decision to make so nothing to see here. Gotta love the 'media spin' in the opening paragraph "Nick Maxwell has declared wayward forward Brendan Fevola is not wanted at the Magpies" yet reading on you find that Nick never said anything of the sort. Also interesting that they give you all the quotes without the context. For all we know they could've been asking him if we wanted to trade for Chuck Norris

Swoop, I didn't know that Maxy was now running the recruitment department as well.
Don't for one minute think that just because Nick has made this statement, we have decided to not pursue Fev.

well Collingwood will have to give up a forward for him and he will replace them in the team.

Everyone should take a deep breath.
This story didn't get into the paper because Maxy rang the Herald Sun to declare 'We don't want Fev!'. He's clearly been buttonholed and pressed about Fev and the Collingwood forward line and he has answered exactly as he should, backing the guys on our current list. Simple good captaincy.
The HS have decided to selectively arrange his quotes into an attack on Fev and I'm tipping that their 'interpretation' is 110% bollocks.

Surely the alarm kicks in when you reach the stage you actually imagine your opinion ought to be worth more than that of the club captain.

Disagree with you there pietillidie. Maxwell should not be commenting on who the club might or might not trade for. His job is to lead whoever is on our list. Naturally, he will be loyal to his current teammates, but he should not be speaking about possible trades. If anyone, that is the job of the coach.

Forums are there for peoples opinions. I respect Maxwell his our captain but it doesn't mean I have to agree with him.
I want Fevola at the club, just like other people do. Some don't that is there opinion and I respect it.
But wait, our window will open in 2-3 years time and when the time comes we will be told our window is in another 2-3 years time the years will keep ticking and we still won't have a flag. We are clearly not good enough now and in 2-3 years other clubs will over take us unless we strengthen certain areas. Ruck & KP Forward! The two players we are linked with will bring us closer to success.
We all love the club, we all bleed for it, But we are a laughing stock because we are known to fail in everything we do.
We only have 9 players over the age of 25, we need a little bit of balance. We need some quality with experience behind them.
We will most likely miss out on Jolly as Hawthorn will come to the party.
But Nick Maxwell made his first mistake as captain opening his mouth on this issue. But we don't know if it was blown out of proportion.

I'm not sure why you would assume just because his opinion does not align with yours he's not speaking for the club.
As captain his job is also to set the ethos of the team. Few do it better. I think I'll stand by the bloke who puts his body on the line for the club week in week out and came second in the B&F.
In any case, the actual comments he made are not a definitive statement on Fevola. They have been craftily arranged as such in the article.
