I'm not assuming that he isn't speaking for the club, I was just stating that I didn't agree with what he said and the timing of it.
Back to Maxwell, he is a great captain and great leader nothing against him, one of my favorites at Collingwood but he shouldn't comment on these issues.

He shouldn't comment because you think he shouldn't comment or because the club thinks he shouldn't comment? How have you determined what his right of comment is?

Maxwell should shut the phuck up and just worry about playing footy.
If getting both Fevola and Jolly gives us a chance at a Premiership in the next 3 years ....do it.
I remember when the board voted not to go for plugger because he wouldn't fit in with the culture at the time....biggest mistake by the dills who voted no. That clever desicion cost us at least 2 Flags.
Everytime we played the Swans plugger would tear us a new one.
1 Premiership in 50 years and phucking counting.
For the Premiership's a cakewalk for the good old Collingwood.....yeah like phuck it is.

If he comes to the Pies. He should be placed on a Dry contract on and off season. Don't like it then enjoy your retirement.

Maxwell is not the best footballer or captain in the league so don't take what he says too seriously.
His comments bring little merit. I doubt Eddie would be counselling him, letting him stay at his house etc if he didn't want him.
Eddie, this is where you might have to go it alone at Collingwood and say I want him, I don't care if the supporters like him or not, because they will start to like him when he kicks set shot goals when Leon and Medhurst miss them.
To not go after Fev because of pride or because he was at Carlton or that were going after youth is a stupid view.
Fev is a proven goal kicker, time after time after time. We need proven goal kickers if you want to actually get to a grand final.
If he plays up, doesn't kick goals etc, fire his ass, who cares.
But to not make a play for him because of pride and "we've got some good young boys.." is a stupid statement from a club that says a lot but still has failed to deliver a 21st Century premiership.

Would much prefer for players to keep their opinions out of the media until trade week is over.
What are the "horrific" injuries he says Travis is getting over? Not the bashing from early in the year surely? If so, that sounds a bit soft.
QUOTE
"And throw in guys like Chris Dawes, who's just banging down the door every week to play AFL footy. You know he's going to get in there at some stage and once they all start clicking and spending more time together we know they're going to be outstanding."
END QUOTE
How many more years does he need to keep banging for, 3 and counting. I think we definately over rate ourselves sometimes.
C'mon Maxy, you gave Dids & Heater a chance, bring the Fev in and give him a hug!!! Some club is going to give Fev a chance and my money is that he will straighten up and reward the club that does.
I think the supporters need to be reminded that the average age of our tall forwards during those finals series was 21.
But to me that means they are going to improve...
In comparision A rocca kicked only 19 goals in the season when he was 21.
Im just sick and tired of people wanting kids to be instant success'.....
Bloody be patient we are building and in 3 years the average age will be 24 and we will be hard to stop.
What a lot of rot.
It is the responsibility of the club to exhaust all options to win a premiership.
Complimenting a young list with star players is smart football.
In 3 years it is just as likely we will be in the bottom 8...

Maxwell - a man of courage, a captain who backs his men. A man of integrity. God bless ya, son.
In saying that, it's not going to have much bearing on the outcome. I think the article was definitely manufactured to be a little dramatic and I'm sure it will be a simple case that if Fevola did come to Collingwood, Maxy would explain that very thing. But Maxy is not holding back saying you've got to earn your stripes to be worthy of a spot in our team too, and that you can't just blow in and think you've got it made.
I don't think there's any certainties about next week now, particularly because Jolly has been thrown into the equation. I can't see us getting both, but it looks like we'll be getting at least one of them.

Maxy just should have done what politicians do all the time, say something but say little of substance. He should have said," I am captain of the club and its not my job to recruit players. We have a very good young side, but having said that, more experience via the draft is and always wiil be welcome by our Club." Or maybe " No comment".

"Malthouse seemed to be issuing a pointed warning against a groundswell of support that may arise to snare a big name such as Fevola.
"I don't like saying this about a young kid who will probably finish his career in the next week or so when he announces he's got a crook neck," Malthouse said in an obvious reference to Stevens.
"We will stand by our decisions, not other people's decisions to bring people into the football club. We were harassed, ridiculed and told we got it wrong when we didn't get Nick Stevens.
"He played one finals match and the bloke we were supposed to give up (Alan Didak) is an All-Australian, best and fairest here . . . I feel sorry for Nick that he can't play with his neck.
"But we know Alan has got many many more years in front of him."
spot on mick & spot on nick
