I don't care where he goes as long as we get a fair deal.

Have to disagree with RR on the Beams trade worth. Nobody, other than Brisbane, thinks Collingwood is being greedy or asking for 'overs'. Buckley, Hine, Pert and now Eade have delivered a consistent message since the end of last week; that's when it became obvious that the sick father scenario wasn't the real story. Once Beams displayed a total lack of respect to his coaches and team mates, Collingwood started playing hard-ball. Pick 5 and a decent player is all they will contemplate, otherwise Beams can stay with us. Brisane needs to get the deal done to our satisfaction and they have three more days to do it. Does anybody really believe that Collingwood will allow itself to be bent-over on this trade? Brisbane does a deal or Beams finds a home at GC or sits out for a year.
After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
Collingwood rules the world again and Mick Malthouse fulfils his destiny with the twenty ten premiership and can you hear the people sing!

Wow. Just wow! Why so much hate?

It will be interesting to see what we get out of this trade period, for Beams and anyone else we manage to get. Of course the premiers have already secured James Frawley. I started a post a few weeks ago saying that Frawley was what we needed to strengthen our back line. But predicably I was howled down by the "he is useless" calls.

We have more faith in kids than Melbourne, and a fat lot of good that does them. Anyone with half a brain will see that the reason we won in 2010 was that Mick went out and got Ball and Jolly. This is exactly what the top teams do. You can risk going for kids who might get injured, or never develop, or when they do other clubs snap them up.

But what thanks do Nicksters give Luke Ball and Darren Jolly? Nothing. They simply get abuse. The same treatment was dished out to Didak, Leon Davis, Ben Johnson, Chris Dawes, and of course Heater (am I the only friggin Collingwood supporter who remembers his smother of the century? But of course he turned against your god Bucks, so that justifies spilling all your bile about Heater). And Beams is now the latest casualty, although perhaps the most disgusting has been the bile some have dished out to poor frustrated Kyle Martin. Who could believe that in order to preserve the myth that Buckley has not destroyed a premiership team, that most of those players on the 2010 premiership team were duds. Obvious Beams is a dud, and so is Heater. They are bum chums after all (homophobic slur - perhaps Lumumba was right all along!) Geez it makes me angry!

Are Collingwood supporters really this bad? Do we really fit the stereotype that closely? It appears so from reading Nicks over the past couple of years. Perhaps our misfortune over the years really is bad karma, because we turn on our own far too often. Side by friggin side. What a joke!

Most people, the majority, wish 99% of those listed players well, and appreciate what they did for the club. They also want what's best for the club above and beyond individuals.

Your problem is with a minority. Why not pm them, instead of grossly over generalising in an inflammatory manner?

Has the current board and Bucks done something to you of a personal nature ?
You appear to be terribly bitter. Have you tried talking to Nathan or Eddie directly to voice your angst ? You might be surprised if you approach either of them and get a fair hearing. Maybe that could ease your ill will and make your posts a little more palatable for those of us that want to discuss the Pies without the histrionics ?

Yep, there is no way that pick 4 for a top player is enough, an established player is always worth more. Beams is under contract and does not have to go to Brisbane. The Lions will end up giving more, but if they don't offer enough then it's time for other clubs to get involved.
Well done boys!

Since this thread is about trading, it looks like North Melbourne has it all over us in the trade market this year. They know that in order to take the next step you can't rely on kids, you have to pick up ready made players who can fill a hole at the club. I can think of a lot of holes in our list right now.

I don't hate Eddie or Bucks. They have been great for our club. It's just I don't think Bucks can coach and I think a change is needed at the top so we don't grow stale. Can we pinch David Koch or Russell Crowe (after all South Sydney is the closest thing to Collingwood in the NRL)?

Waite and Higgins are both potentially good players for North. They're also potentially injury prone and underachieving for them as they have both been for long periods at their respective former clubs.

If the Greenwood trade comes off for us and he maintains this years form then I see him as an upgrade on Ball (on his form of the past two seasons) more so than a Beams replacement. But fill a hole in our list it surely will.

Two words....

1 Levi
2 Greenwood

Not to mention four other words

1 Jarrad
2 Waite
3 Shaun
4 Higgins

BUT IF Beams is willing to be traded to GWS say, then that worries me from the POV that is there something else down at the club that Beams doesn't like. Is his dad and go home factor only a minor part of it.

I don't know, guess we will need to wait and see what happens come next week I guess.
I am of the understating that Beams does not like Leading Teams and what they bring to the club, We are all very different and what some see a healthy peer group discussion others see as demeaning and unacceptable.

I have head this from a fairly reliable source.

What can I say, I can't help but get caught up in all the mass hysteria that is trade week and the rumours and stories that are perpetuated by the media are turning me against the players who have given their all for the club. It's all trade week's fault and the media and I can't take it anymore. I hate what I've become but I can't hide from it. Now all I want is draft picks. Draft pick, draft picks and more draft picks.
