I'm glad someone posted that, I was going to.
MM seems to be making a very clear statement, the club will decide who it drafts , trades for and trades - not the fans or the media.
I remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth when we didn't send Did's to Port in exchange for Stephens. Stephens was supposedly exactly what our midfield needed and would take us straight to a premiership and the club were crazy. Well, the club got that one right and will get the Fev one right too by the sound of it. We take him on our terms or not at all.

stevens was "fit and firing" in 2004, he was one of the best midfielders in the comp and fitted our needs for an outside type with decent skills...but the club stuck with the young fella called didak. turned out to a good decision.
fevola is 28/29 and has probably 3-4 years of good football left in him barring injury/mishaps. our potential no.14 pick + any one of dawes/cloke/reid/n.brown have 10 years of quality football left. our forward line is fine with ja/trav/medders/dawes/dick/thomas, let them develop together. get jolly yes as he rectifies an obvious flaw in our team, but the scum can keep their rubbish.

It's all fine to say our window of opportunity is in 3 years, but if we can get Fev without trading away anyone who will be a required player in 3 years then we don't alter that scenario. The hard part will be getting Jolly and Fev without giving away someone who WILL be an important part of the list in three years (ie. Dawes / N Brown). But if we can, I say do it. Give pick 14 to Sydney (plus a fringe midfielder if required) for Jolly and see what Fev's asking price comes down to on Friday at 11 am

I feel Maxwell has erred here. He needs to concentrate on winning games of football, and not deciding if HE wants a player at the club.
I like Maxwell, but this isn't his call.

His comments bring little merit. I doubt Eddie would be counselling him, letting him stay at his house etc if he didn't want him.
Eddie, this is where you might have to go it alone at Collingwood and say I want him, I don't care if the supporters like him or not, because they will start to like him when he kicks set shot goals when Leon and Medhurst miss them.
To not go after Fev because of pride or because he was at Carlton or that were going after youth is a stupid view.
Fev is a proven goal kicker, time after time after time. We need proven goal kickers if you want to actually get to a grand final.
If he plays up, doesn't kick goals etc, fire his ass, who cares.
But to not make a play for him because of pride and "we've got some good young boys.." is a stupid statement from a club that says a lot but still has failed to deliver a 21st Century premiership.
Finally you have found your calling, you are an expert on stupid views.
Maxwell is the Captain of the club and is fully entitled to express his point of view regarding trading, because if Fevola was to stuff up as is most likely it is Maxwell who would be asked (at times) to front the press and explain.
Maxwell did nothing more than outline some Facts, of course he is required to do this because he is not some anonymous poster who just blabbers platitudes and nonsense on fan site.
You may think our list is not young or good, but the Captain does.
I wonder who might have the better credibility on this, you or Maxwell?

I'm not sure Nick would have made the comments unless they had been cleared by Mick/Eddie/Pert/Walsh.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but a big thankyou to Magpie Greg for being one of the few, the very few, not to get sucked into the bizarre Fevola Fever that has run through most of the rest of this board like a new strain of cholera through a refugee camp after a flood.
OK, I never though I'd be saying this either, but I actually felt a sense of relief, and even a faint glimpse of returning sanity, when I saw that one other Nick's poster has not had his brain infected by the Fevola Virus.

He might've said it to even put pressure on Carlton that we're not giving up anyone good for him who are part of the development at our club. It puts pressure on Carlton, as if the rumours are true and they are desperate to get rid of him- then we might be able to settle for a higher draft pick than a first rounder.

That could be hard for us if Espically if we get Jolly on Monday because we would trade our 1st Round Pick for him

seems to have about a 90% infection ratio, mortality rate only at a\bout 50% atm though.
