Speaking of cheating

While the dilemna of CFC (to win games OR to gain 1+2 picks) is prominent on the BB's and in the press (how pathetic is that "say it aint so Eddie" article) it still confounds me how quiet and machiavallian the Essendon and Melbourne "great get off" saga really is.
Essendon are doing well on the field, they could win a premiership this year.
Melbourne have gone quiet but they'll do well on the field when it all blows over because they have some very good players on board.

Now then, Melbourne were 800,000 OVER the limit.
That's two Buckley's and a recruit. I reckon if I put two Buckleys into Fitzroy's worst side they'd win a premiership. Slight exaggeration but, the severity of the "crime" has to be measured somehow, and to compare it to 2 and 1/3 Buckleys shows just how much advantage they (Melbourne) gained.

The reality of the matter. Nobody seems to really give a hoot. Even on the BB's. Radical punishment would hurt the Clubs who cheated and the whole AFL. A minor tick off will result.

But to conclude, don't get too concerned about the jibes from your mates and colleagues regarding the draft picks dilemna,,, it's small potatoes compared to the big issues.
