Yeah it sounded a bit like that. Hoperfully he will be a bit more thrilled once he gets into it. But, the thing is, who would be thrilled about moving to the other side of the country, away from your family and friends?

I think you'll find it's only natural for freshly drafted players from interstate saying they are dissapointed they have to relocate to play AFL, instead of staying in their native state. Don't hold it against him. I'm sure he'll hang around with all our other ex-WA boys and get into some mischief.

We'll just have to wait and see, won't we. He may turn out or prove a dud; maybe he will settle down here. If not, he may be of some value in a trade deal with the Egos or the Shockers.

Did read a small discussion to this effect on LSD. They may well be engaging in wishful thinking or talking out of their arse esp re the players they talked about but it may be a thought.

There's going to be some competition for the ruck at Willie next year -
Mc Kee , Richards , Crow and now Hall .
Best of luck to all our recruits

How big is he? Is he an Anthony Rocca or a Guy Richards? Hope to see him in the Wizard Cup.

198cm and 94kg - more of a Rocca I guess, usual crap on the draft lists "good below his knees" (must have nice ankles), "terrific athletic ability" (can run quicker than Harry Madden), "good courage" (isn't afraid of the dark anymore). He is one of the only kids who hasn't said "I was just happy to get drafted" so he seems to be more confident than most to say he was disappointed not getting picked earlier.

It has me absolutely buggered how someone in the draft can say " I'm disappointed to be going interstate "
According to my maths 16 clubs - 2 only in W.A. - 7 in 8 chances of going interstate .
I hope he can play footy cos he doesn't sound like a rocket scientist !
He should be honoured to be picked by our mighty club and as gratefull as hell if he ever gets a senior game - it's a chance most of us give their left arm for .

With all due respect Warbler, most of us are crap and that's why we will never play for Willy, let alone the mighty Pies. The kids obviously been a standout in WA junior footy his whole life and would expect to be drafted. The fact he is disappointed to be going interstate has nothing to do with statistics, it is merely an emotion, if had said he was "surprised" to go interstate then I agree it would be a stupid comment.

I know Brent personally, and I know that he will be, one day, one of collingwoods best assets. Being from WA myself, I know how hard it would be to have to leave family and friends like he has had to do. Things aren't always as they seem and even if it did sound like he did not care much about all this, why would he be in it and go through so much for nothing. Its a shame that no WA teams picked him up because we would really appreciate what he has to offer!
