Boring bits

David Parkin contributed an interesting article in The Age 30/3

regarding how boring the game is now, due in part to the lack of 'contests', amongst other things. I'd be interested to hear others thoughts, especially the older stagers. I've only seen a dozen or so live games in the last 8 years, and most of those have been kind of boring (admittedly, we got beat in most of em which didn't do a lot for my interest levels). Before tht I was pretty regular when working in Melb.

There is not as much body contact now as I remember, but that might be selective memory. Maybe players are more 'athletic' and tactics dictate running into space instead of heading for contests now. Anyhow, I definately miss a bit of biffo. (Monky was always good value for that against Ess, but I cant recall any other blokes like that in the late 90's)

Maybe players aren't getting enough Tongue and Trotter Soup.
