Blast From The Past #2

Well my fellow travellers, it's a long time till next week...so here's something to cheer us along.

I just got this feeling...nudge nudge...say no more Image

by Alf Brown:

Magpies Storm In.

Blues Fold in 3rd Term.

In a rough game in which several players seemed likely to be reported, Collingwood gave Carlton, last year's premiers a football lesson at Carlton this afternoon. In a remarkable goal-kicking spree in the third quarter Collingwood kicked 77 points to Carlton's 2. They kicked 11 goals before Carlton scored a point.

Carlton powerless to stop Collingwood's third-quarter avalanche of goals looked like an inept junior side against a combined VFL team.

Scores: Collingwood: 5.3 9.8 21.13 23.15 (153)
Carlton: 6.5 10.7 10.9 13.11 (89)

Greening 7
Tuddenham 4
Waters 3
Graham 3
Richardson 3
McKenna 2
Tully 1

'Did Anyone ever see such a team?

'Good old Collingwood forever....They know how to play the game....

Excuse me folks. I don't want to rub it in. But did antone ever see such a team before?

Collinwood 23.15.153 downed Carlton 13.11.89.

And the Magpies won the fight as well. They showed up the Blues as real Cheese Champs. Honestly I never saw better football in my life than Collingwood played in the third quarter. It was magnificent...stupendous...fantastic...superb...glorious. In fact is was GOOD.'
