Did anybody notice that at the start of the year in the Collingwood membership brochure what Magpie Mick Malthouse said in a snippet inside the front cover. He said that 2001 is simliar to 1987 where Collingwood blooded a core of young players and adopted a youth policy.
1987: Brown, Gayfer, Christan, Kelly, Turner, Staravich, Crosicca , Mckeon etc
2001: Fraser,O'Bree, Davis, Lonie, Lockyer, Johnston,Adkins,Holland etc
I tell you what I can sence 1990 is about to repeat history
GOOD OLD COLLINGWOOD UNITED FOREVER AND EVER AMEN GOD BLESS THEM ALL
2001 IS REMINISENT TO 1987

nah, this time is gonna be even sweeter. Never again shall we return to the great depths we reached during the past decade. The times of opposition supporters actually feeling sorry for us have past... we will be the most HATED club again and we will thrive on this hatred! We will also be the most loved, and this will be the envy and jelously of all other clubs - the magpie family with all its loyal, dedicated and true believing supporters will continue to grow. We will be the envy of sporting clubs world wide. 1990 was awesome (and sooooo long ago)... but we are now at the beginning of something that is going to be very very special. Belief and hard work is what is needed and this will ultimately decide exactly how special this new era will be. Dont ever lose faith Collingwood people... we can and WILL prosper!

All these close games are toughening us up. In this day and age a game is never over till its over.
Laying foundations, skills increasing, turnovers decreasing, working together, depth of talent.
The players we have now are so good that anyone else we pick up over the next few seasons will be a bonus.
But we have to keep improving. As the season is progressing a lot of the other teams that were down, are getting better and better.
There won't be an easy game this year.
It will lead to a real logjam for the finals and the way we are travelling that will almost guarrantee us a berth.
As for Premierships? We can hope but we are not quite muscled up yet.
Muscle, experience, coolness under pressure, flair, half a dozen superstars who can win a game off their own boot...that's a Premiership team.
But you're not born with experience...and each week we are finding out that nobody is invincible...they're all just flesh and blood and they will make mistakes under pressure...so let them FEEL the pressure...the poor Saints...on this one we need to let loose...
