It's a good song but I reckon "Good Old Collingwood Forever" is the best Australian song of the past 75 years.

Good Old Collingwood Forever is more than 75 years old. I think it was written about 1908 or thereabouts, based on a song called "Dolly Grey", which was popular during the Boer War.
Friday On My MInd was written about 1967 by Harry Vanda and George Young from Australia's best known 60s band, the Easybeats, which would have been an approriate nickname for Collingwood for most of last season ... but not any more
Yeah, Friday was an absolute gem of a song. And there's been a few versions of it over the years. But my favourite version is still the original by the Easybeats.
Vanda and Young are one of Australia's best ever pop songwriting teams. They had a studio recording project in the late 70s/early 80s called Flash and the Pan and recorded and wrote some absolute classics including "Hey, St.Peter" and "Down Among the Dead Men". George Young is the older brother of AC/DC's Angus.
