How stuffed is the system though? Looking at the Hawks, Tiges and Dogs, I'd expect one of them to bounce back pretty hard in 2006 with a three or four guns in their squad from PP's early picks and/or trading picks for quality players.
How low you can finish on the ladder (and most importantly, if you can secure the all important PP) and how well you can pick/secure talent plays far too important a role in the future success of clubs for mine.
The quicker they bring in the American (lottery system) for bottom clubs or some equivilant the better. Otherwise the true path to success might just lie in securing PP's for two or three consecutive years.

Maybe, maybe not. Surely the whole point about the draft/priority picks is to even up the competition and give everyone a go at winning the comp (no posts on Brisbane's salary cap, please!). If you agree with that, then St Kilda is the classic example of the system working to achieve its goals.
