COLONIAL STADIUM

Post by Millane42 »

After watching the game, it reinforces the view that colonial has such a bad surface, as the players can't keep their footing. The roof being closed won't help the growth of the grass.

So can someone tell me if it isn't our home ground - why are we playing "home" games there????? and the MCG didn't have a game on sunday!

Yeah, I think the concept of the "home ground" doesn't really apply in Melbourne any more. I think these days you just have to play wherever the A.F.L. tells you to play. Optarse Oval and Smell Stadium are still there but it's only a matter of time before they go the way of the dodo as well.

As for the surface ... yeah, it's a worry.

Why don't they rip up the grass altogether and replace it with ice. And the players could wear skates. It would make the game a lot faster. And we could start playing internationals against Canada and the U.S.A. It would also help the clubs sell more merchandise. They could have climate control set to sub-zero temperatures so everyone would have to buy fur coats and ugg boots ... in club colours, of course.

Hmm?

Are you reading this, Mr.Jackson?

Yeah that sounds good AlfAndrews! but you are dead right, there are no home grounds left in melbourne. That's why it should be a big advantage for teams such as brisbane, sydney and adelaide,etc...they don't realise how lucky they are to have big home crowds at their stadium and probably don't use it to their full advantage - just look at the weagles and freo way to go....
