Can anyone confirm or deny that last night on what I can only assume to be Sports Today with Gerard Healy that their was news that Shane O'Bree has advised the Collingwood Football Club that he is seeking a trade?
My dad mentioned it to me and I'd already turned the program off after listening to Huddo and crew on SEN. I've ready many nuff nuff posts from BF stating that he's going to Hawthorn for Angelo Lekkas, but I wouldn't see the Hawks trading Angelo.
Can anyone think of an appropriate deal for Cheesy, given that you have to trade like for like in terms of salary, I'd imagine you'd be looking at somewhere in the $125 - $175K per annum vicinity and that would be of benefit to both teams. Given that Cheesy is only 25, put will be 26 by the end of the year and will only play for a Victorian based team, given that's his reason for coming to Collingwood, a deal would have to possible somewhere.

If he's on $250K + per annum we are screwed.
Him, Buckley, Woewodin, Rocca and in all likliehood Tarrant on $250K, we are in big trouble.

I just want to know if it's legit or not that he's asked for a trade. I can't find any info on it in the newspapers but then again, highly unlikely you'd get much more than a single line in Grand Final week between Brownlow night and the Grand Final.

I hope he did ask to be traded.

$250k would be about right.
Buckley would be our highest paid player and is on about $750k, then Burns, around $400k, followed by - in no particular order - Rocca, Woey, Tarrant, Licuria, Fraser and O'Bree, on around $250-300k. Not far behind would be Clement, Lockyer, Presti and Wakelin, all around the $200k mark.

Does anyone see how ridiculous that sounds when you say it out loud......its insane, he's an honest player O'Bree but not worth $250K if a player like Luke Ball is likely to only negotiate a contract in the vicinity of $175 - $200K

If we attract any big names, then we'll have to offload him for salary cap reasons alone.
eg. If we get one of Harvey, Del Santo, Bruce, Johnson, Ball, I'd expect to be up for around 300k-400k pa. In that case O'bree for pick 99 as long as they pick up his wage.

If Taz is our second highest paid player then he can piss off down the Princes Highway to Geelong as rumour-mongers suggest, 'cause he ain't worth it. That would work out at about $20,000 per goal, FFS! I was being generous suggesting $250-$300k, because he's not earning his way at even that price.

Chris Tarrant Goals: 36 Behinds: 30
20, 000 per goal on your logic...
$720, 000 per year.... I DONT THINK SO
Dont make up crap...
say on $400, 000 thats closer to 10,500 per goal.
Realistically, with Fraser, Taz are are most important players, because they are 23-24. Not like Bucks and Burns who are sensational clubmen, but on the wrong side of 30. Pebbles 27 also. Be realistic.
TAz missed half year with injuries, and lack of support in forward line. Remember his 2003 season before you all fly off the handle. That will be what to expect this coming year.
