3 way trade to get Brent Harvey

Post by richo »

Is there any possibility that we could get in on a 3 way trade with Richmond and the Kangaroos to get Brent Harvey as the Kangas are after Ottens?

We could give two players to Richmond out of (Shaw, Presti, Obree, Lokan, McGough) who could then give Ottens to the Kangas who could then on trade Harvey to us. Laidley would have no problems dealing with us due to his 2002 connection and I doubt whether Wallace would either.

What do you think?

Presti must not be traded. I've thought about this, and I think it would stuff us up.

If something else can be worked out, then that would be fine.

We have no ther trade bait than Presti. McGough, Shaw etc are worth nothign and would be laughed at if put on the table along side Harvey, Ottens etc.

Ottens form has been very questionable over the past couple of seasons.

But who will replace him d9? It will leave our backline susceptible. Maxwell isn't ready yet.

I agree that we can't really afford to lose Presti, he was just one of the names being thrown around, but I do think we definitely need another quality midfielder maybe two. If there was some way we could get harvey and travis johnstone imagine how great our side would be.

I agree, which is why i would trade Fraser, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

I honestly have no idea what our trading department is going to try and use. Other than Pick 23 we have nothing of substance. As I said McGough, Shaw et al are worthless, and when packaged are worth even less.

Frustrating isn't it.

It is a frustrating predicament but we probably have to bite the bullet and give up a player of worth in order to get something good in return. Our younger players really need another season at least before they have any established credibility (based on more than potential) with other clubs.

I wouldn't rate shaw as worthless. I wouldn't trade him though' unless for someone who will also give similar pace or part of a deal to land a gun in and under specialist

Doesn't matter how you (or we) rate Shaw, but rather how other clubs see him.

If we go in with a similar list to this season and only pick up youngsters in the draft does anyone give us a realistic chance of improving our record from last year? I reckon we need one if not two big name trades if we are to improve on our efforts in 2004.

Regarding Shaw - maybe they should look at other games beside 2003 gf wallace obviously has and would give him a run at the tuggers. this might be a way to help snare zanchuck who could be handy if he wants to leave ##nt road.

I think the 2003 GF obviously exposed the beginning of our lack of depth where we couldn't cover the absence of Rocca. This season has further shown that lack of depth with injuries and suspension. In the next couple of years our younger players will hopefully come on and when a big name goes down it won't affect us so much. Does anyone know the stats on how many games we've won with Rocca and Tarrant in the side as opposed to how many we've lost?
