Exactly....just because a player of some value resigns for his existing club doesn't mean he was missed. The chances are that most players will resign for their existing clubs, not unless another club is prepared to pay huge money to get them to shift.

The chances of getting a top player to shift clubs from within the same state is extremely rare. Hamill moving to St Kilda was probably the last one to occur simply because the money offered was well in excess of what Carlton were prepared to offer.

Clubs have more chance of getting interstate players, especially ones that originate from Victoria.

Your forgetting that players are not going to leave a club, they are doing their best to get a better deal. Unless they come out like Ottens and say they have left then you simply have ot take it as wage prop up talk. He was never going to leave. As soon as they mentioned in the media last week Colingwood were interested we all knew it was crap. Don't be sucked in by what player managers tell the media. They are scum in most cases. The more a player gets, the more they get.

It was just the media upping his price. He was never going to come.

Near Miss? If you nearly miss something, don't you hit it?

I think the one thing that Collingwood is trying to get involved in is the Ottens to Geelong deal. I think we may end up with one of Geelong's young guns in place of our 7th pick.

That's one of the few deals I'm expecting, not ones for Bruce, Johnstone, Ball, Dal Santo, Crawford, Kerr, Judd or anyone else though. I also think a player or two will be sent else where for a 2nd/3rd round pick.

The Geelong deal is realistic. Kelly or Tennace would fit in well.
