Chad Morrison - Do we want him?

Post by Magpie Since 1986 »

Just saw on channel 10, Chad Morrison is out of contract and said he wants to return to Melbourne and has already spoken to his old coach Mick Malthouse. Seems if we make a deal we'll be sure to have his services.

But do we need him? He isn't exactly an A-grade midfielder. He will be 27 next year so probably only has another 3 years or so left in him. He is a decent player but not sure if he is any better than what we already have and including him good deny a youngster game time.

Thoughts?

i think he will fit in nicely,BUT it all depends on what we give up.
Playing him off a H.B.F would allow cole & jonno to have a run in midfield at some stage.

Chad Morrison would be handy but the reality is we have plenty of his type. If we can secure him without giving too much away I say go for it. If WCE want too much then let it pass.

Nothing special. Hope he likes playing in the VFA coz that's where he will be no matter who gets him.
Get back on top.

I'd take him. Dependson the deal, but before his knee injuries he was a genuine star. Pies supporter as a kid, and was a Victoian player in 1999. Have a look at him, as he is a much better option the O'Bree.

Have a look at Braun also.

Dont agree with you there Cam. Morrison would fit nicely on the half back flank and would allow Lonie to move up to the wing were he belongs.

I'd prob prefer Morrison over O'Bree, not sure if we should take him though.

Apparently on Sports Tonight it said he is really wanting to come back to Melbourne and come under the coach of Mick Malthouse!

I think that's what MS1986 was referring to.

Played some very good games against good opposition, ie. Port and Brisbane.

I reckon he would be a very handy pickup.

Would be an excellent pick up me thinks Joel. I would want to get anyone who frees up Lonie to play on the wing where he will be so damaging

But, guess who his manager is........

YOU GUESSED IT!!

Toad Joseph, I mean, Ron Joseph.

Still, seeing as though Morrison has publicly stated he would prefer to go to Collingwood, then I think it is morelikely a deal could be worked out.

Williams & Davis for Morrison & Kerr = a net win for the Pies.

Kerr is already a proven midfielder while Davis is only potentially one.
Hearing the 'Black & White Army' roar is the greatest sound in the world.

As if they are going to accept that.

I can see Davis being part of a deal for Morrison, although, I'm not keen on getting rid of Davis.

I can't see them wanting Williams back, and we certainly won't get Kerr for Davis and Williams.
