Ottens

I noticed in the article in the Australian that we werent interested in Ottens unless he made it to the preseason draft where we would snare him.

Could be interesting to see how that pans out.

Would love him in the side.

From the article

"While the Magpies yesterday denied they are in the race to trade for Ottens, they could secure him in the pre-season draft as an off-contract player with an annual $500,000 price tag as they have the fourth selection in December. "

Big Footy rumour

I would be happy with the deal being floated on BigFooty right now which sees us receive Brent Harvey for our Pick 7 which is then on traded to Richmond with pick 10 for Ottens.

Harvey has quality disposal, pace and kicks goals - fair enough didnt have a great season but has been consistently good over a long period of time.

Played the last 10 games of the year with stress fractures in his right foot did Brent Harvey. We could do a lot worse than pick up the little seagull, but he's not as attractive (in terms of value to Club) to me as a Kerr or a Tivendale.

Harvey or Kerr are better than Tivendale. Okay he was got a big kick on him but his big game stats are nowhere near as big as his nostrils.

I wasnt aware of his injury but now you mention it he didnt look as though he was moving that well and his whole game is pace and getting to lots of contests.

For me Kerr is probably off limits and also gets suspended a couple of times a year - which is to much!

Tivendale whilst being talented we do already have Lonie, Johnson, Woewodin, Didak etc. as long kicking left footers and i dont think you want to many.

B.Harvey for pick 7 still the deal for me

Yeah I like this pick 7 for Kerr talk..

Of course it's got no foundation, but I like it

Age factor 3rd Degree

Harvey is 26
Kerr is 21
Tivendale is 25

Number 7 Draft pick is a 17 year old, takes 3-4 years to develop. Puts them at 20-21 years old. On that basis alone, Kerr outweighs them all.

See your point there Nath but......

This year aside due to injury we where perhaps 1 or 2 quality midfielders away from a flag the 2 previous years and 2 glaring weaknesses where pace and foot skills under the finals pressure.

B.Harvey brings Grand Final winning experience and compliments our older midfield players ie: Burnsey, Bucks and Woey who will be finished in 3-4 years time when the 17 yr old pick 7 is up and running

We wait for that and we may miss the window that is currently open - not time for rebuilding with more youth yet!!!!

I prefer Judd to Kerr. Maybe wes hould go for Del Santo etc.
This would all be fine if these players are available. But if not you go for the best available option. In this case, if the rumors are true, then its Harvey.

Judd, Dal Santo, Simon Black........why don't we see if we can trade Williams, O'Bree and Shaw as a package deal for one of them. Guys, they aren't going anywhere.

Dal Santo has a year to run so does Judd, both will renegotiate.

See your point to Rob8, but in two years when those guys give it up, Harvey is 29 with two good years left in him as well. You get a Kerr for example and by the time Bucks, Burns and Licca go, you've got Johnno, Dutchy, Jules, Daks, etc, all around the 24-25 mark to bring in the new regime.

yep too true nath, hopefully we get kerr. tivendale might come over as well as he will smell how good the cafe is at the lexus centre (which is been run by Rocca's mum) from punt road with his monstrous snozz. Therefore he will cost us nothing!

Tivendale was coming to Collingwood two years ago, but knocked it back on the basis that he thought the Tigers were closer to the finals than the pies. He's obviously not a smart bloke, but he can kick like a mule.

I doubt we will get Ottens. He wants the Cats.

Okay here's the bottom line.

Richmond want two first round draft picks within single digits.
Greg Milelr has just said that North have a concrete deal in place to secure that trade.
North has pick 10 in the draft, Carlton pick 9, Adelaide pick 8 and us with pick 7, the dogs have pick 6 but are likely to trade that to Sydney or nobody.

That said, I fear we may have just traded pick 7 to North because Denis Pagan has stated that there was no chance in hell he was trading pick 9 and Adelaide wont trade pick 9 as they need it for the Stenglein deal.

I am at this point in time, extremely freaking pissed off.

Miller has just said on SEN that ottens wont be going to the cats due to them not offering a suitable deal.

He will be at Roos or Swans or Miller claims they will spend the next 10 weeks trying to persuade him to remain at Punt Rd.
