Do we really need a 27(28 next year in may) year old Half back/ Back pocket .SEN mentioned a swap in first round picks ie we get ten they get seven as well as a second round pic from themz i believe... but cant be sure.
Possibly used to get Morrison.

Anyone heard any similar??

If you want another flag opportunity within 3 years - yes IMHO. Don't underestimate Smith's running ability. He would have to get a haircut though wouldn't he? I mean Collingwood boys don't wear headbands. He'd also have to give it a wash with Sunsilk shampoo occasionally as well.

Oh and our soul got auctioned off in the Vic Park thing. It was lot #666 or something. Lexus was the winning bidder, from Sony & Emirates.

You can't win sometime.

Make no trades and everyone complains.....

Make a trade (at this stage its all specualtion as to what is being offered for Smith) and people complain

We seemed to have had Geeelong in a corner but they simply won't budge with the players we want in exchange.

People forget its called TRADING, which means I give something and get something back in return.

Joel Smith can play in the middle and up forward. His age is the concern ... wouldnt want to give up too much for him

I'd do it - He'll give us a few years good service and a bit more run out of the bakline, release a few other guys, ie. Johnno and Cole, to the midfield, add a bit of versitility, and we can get (hpefully) moloney or someone from the Cats for pick 10. Smith, Moloney and Morrison (PSD) is better than Morrison and pick 7 IMO.

What I find funny is the estimated use of Smith is two or three years (going by what everyone says). But when there was a rumor of Crawf coming over (as far fetched as it was) everyone was up in arms because he only had a couple of years left in him.

Oh sure, people will point to his back or whatever. But no one wants to mention that Smith only played something like 5 games a couple of years ago. Or that Buckley might never recover from injuries suffered this season. Or that ... etc.

Whatever the case, we should welcome whoever happens to come in to wearing the black and the white, and be grateful that it's one less player that can kick a winning point or score against us. Or some sort of something. Something.

He isn't as good as a year or two ago. If it means trade the second rounder then do it, but otherwise just leave it. We must not use pick 7. It would be foolish.

It wont be for Pick 7, I think that unless a young midfielder such as Tenace is pushed, COllingwood will keep Pick 7. Its more likely that Collingwood will trade a player, such as O'Bree who has been previously mentioned in Hawthorn deals and a draft pick in the second round.

No need to trade Pick 7 for Smith, we have the power, if he wants to leave, Hawthorn will want to get something for him. He's uncontracted, so if we don't snaffle him up, its to the PSD and Hawthorn get bugger all in return.

Personally, I think all these rumours about Smith and Collingwood are just a ploy by his manager to squeeze a better deal out of the Hawks. They acquired picks 10 and 26 from North in the Nathan Thompson trade and they now have picks 2, 5, 10, 21, 26, 37 and 53 in the Draft. There's a pretty good set of 1st and 2nd round picks in that to use on drafting young kids, and they have committed to a youth policy, so they'll need to keep experienced players around to provide some backbone, especially in the backline. Five experienced players were delisted or retired after the season and Thompson has also gone. And further rumours suggest Lekkas is also on the way to North in another trade.

Pies will not trade the pick 7 unless it is for Smith and Hawks pick 10.

Maybe pick 7 for Lekas and Smith ?
