Carr goes west, Ottens up for grabs
October 7, 2004 - 8:50PM
Should Richmond deliver its pick 20 to St Kilda in the triangular deal, that could enable the Saints to on-trade that to Carlton in exchange for Lance Whitnall.
That would then put Carlton in a position to possibly trump Geelong's bid for Richmond ruckman Brad Ottens, by offering draft picks nine and 20 for the big man.
That would be more attractive than Geelong's best offer of selections 12 and 16, with the Tigers adamant they required a single-figure draft pick and another first rounder in exchange for Ottens.
The Cats could get their hands on pick 12 - currently held by Melbourne - by trading a player to the Demons, possibly midfielder Brent Moloney
Hmmm? Who knows?

I still don't know why the Saints want Fatnall. Bizarre. Do they want him to fill the hole at CHB? Don't they know he can't run?

Gehrig and Whitnall out of the square?
Don't know why they'd do it, but you never know..

Whitnall and Gerhig can't both fit in the square at once...
and once Lance is in the square, he doesn't leave often, being known to play FF, FB, FF, FB in alternating quarters to fasciliate this. Having said that, a change is probably what he needs (and a change of diet...

Lets face it, he can fill a pretty big hole, can't he?

Geelong have been stalling all week because they know Collingwood will only accept a top line player eg Tenace, for our 7th pick and they are obviously hoping to squeeze Richmond into a lesser deal. If Bomber can hold on to his kids and still get Ottens, then he'll be a happy little vegemite. Having said that, even picks 12 and 16 are far too much to pay for Ottens and, as I've said previously, there will be a lot of tears down Kardinia Park next year because of it.

Geelong will suffer without some of their gun midfielders. They may have Ottens, but a few losses of young kids could break up the side.

Geelong will be too stubborn for their own good if they dont get Ottens. He would be perfect for their team, being able to play a key forward role and even give relief to Steven King in the ruck. They have an abundance of midfielders. If i were them, i would give up a young midfielder for Ottens
