Joffa - Jock McHale Medal - Today's Herald Sun

Post by Mike »

Thanks to Magpie24 for scanning and sending the article to me.

I've had to rearrange it a bit to fit.

Joffa, did you have a make-over for this photo? - you're looking unusually handsome.

WOW i still cant believe it all

There is myself standing with the mchale family.

Well enough of the gloating its good to see that every year for a few moments the name jock mchale will be heard on grand final day.
The day in which he made most famous for collingwood and football.

The biggest buzz is it has made a lot of people so happy and as far as im concerned that alone is priceless.

The biggest thrill will be to watch the presentation on telly thats when the whole thing will hit home.

You can almost sense the spirit of jock being there.

Congrats Joffa for an excellent idea that will live on after we are all gone! Immortal?
I just wish you could've had this brainwave next year when maybe MM could be the inagural winner instead of Sheeds.

Outrageous Statement Time: Mark Williams will be a suitable and appropriate inaugural winner of The Jock McHale Medal.

The medal is to be awarded retrospectively from 1950 which was the season following Jock McHale's retirement.

The inaugural winner has already been decided. It was Dick Reynolds (Essendon - 1950).

Phonse Kyne will pick up two medals and Leigh Matthews, one.

Would you believe, the inaugural Coach not to be awarded retrospectively?

Hey, where's the Night Premiership-Coach Medal?

And seriously, and I've said this for a while, but why don't they give the Team who finishes last an actual Wooden Spoon? I think that'd be cool.

You did well Joff. You came up with a great idea and got your head in the paper as well as a mention for the website. It's all good.

Isn't it wonderful what they can do with a few lights and some trick photography ... they can even make Joffa look good.

Well done, Joffa, you legend.

It looks as though you've been adopted by the McHale family ... so I guess that makes you Joffa McHale.

And Sly, unfortunately Mark Williams won't be the man this year.

Go Mick Malthouse - 2002 J.F.McHale Medallist.
