NOT HAPPY!! Why weren't there any trades? Unless we plan to pickup some people in the pre season draft...but what the hell is going? We need a ruckman.

It was from: http://www.afl.com.au/news/story_254770.htm

Gee, our list must be even better than we thought...

...there couldn't possibly be any other explanation for our lack of trading.

Once again we display incompetence. we need talls - a ruckman, half back flanker, and fullback. we need more class, as we are not complete.

i am happy we haven't lost davis, scotland, betheras and adkins, as some people had rumour mongered. but still why?

A bit of faith people - if Noel can't find a suitable trade then I'm tempted to trust him. 99% of the trades were for no-one particularly better or with more potential than our list, and what chance did we have against Fremantle in chasing Croad?

There is no need in trading just for the sake of trading.

If we could get nothing at the price we wanted, too bad, too sad.

Maybe you think we should blow money on overpriced trades, but I do not.

Onwards and upwards Pies.

I'm with u Phil.

Would've been nice to get a Croad however at the same time theres many on our list I wouldnt want to see deleted. We have a committed hard working good strong bunch of young guys and I wouldnt want to see that broken. I'm sure the club knows what they're doing. You gotta remember our club is looking the best its looked for years and years and having attended just about every single match for over the last decade I assure you I'm much more positive with everything now than I ever have been. We could be like Carlscum and recruit pensioners to an already ageing list. I'd much rather be where we are at the moment than where they or just about any other club are.

Lets wait for Bichmond to delist another dud ruckman so we can pick him up in the pre-season draft. As I said in another topic, we look like drafting more skinny kids so we will have an excuse when we don't make the finals again. I can't see why we didn't go for Porter. He is a great ruckman who has a bit of bulk to handle the other big ruckman in the AFL. I can't understand why Carlton would trade him for an old hasbeen injury prone dud like McKernan.

Has anyone thought of any players deciding to go into the draft from now? Now, I am not sure what no our first pick is, but hey if someone pops up, we still have the money and it won't cost us a valuable player.

Just give them a chance to reply. There is obviously reason behind their thinking. They sound like they have also had some bad luck. They only one I was spewing about was Misiti. Can you imagine another one to back up O'Bree and feed off to Bucks. But of course the chances weren't that high in getting him, as Essendon are extremely good at bluffing.

As Neil Balme said last night, if a player doesn't fit into their plan for the next few years, well he won't be coming to Collingwood.

Have faith!

Personally I am very with happy with our list in the main.

There is one glarring shortcomming - the obvious ruck deficiency. I find it difficult to believe that the powers that be do not recognise this as the single most important on field need we have and even the most important requirement on or off the field. The simple difference in making and not making the finals this year is the magnitude of the issue.

Whilst we need to improve in a sustainable manner and our direction has been generally good, making finals is what it is all about. At the end of the day, the only reason the club exists, the board are voted into office and the managers are employed, is to win premierships. Any season where a premiership is not won is a failure. At this stage of our development, any season out of the finals is an abject disaster and cannot be tolerated. The club must do whatever it takes to ensure any season where we finish out of the finals is immediately rectified. The club has now left itself open. I know there are big things expected of Guy Richards but now his success as a ruckman determines the future of the "football selection" team as far as I am concerned.

The fact that numerous ruck options were open but ignored has me somewhat dissapointed. I am prepared to give the selction team a chance to prove they wwere right but if we get thumped week after week in the ruck and miss the finals or even under perform if we make them I will be so irate that I am not willing to put in writing what I would like to do to them.

I sincerely hope the correct decisions were made in this vital trade week. The patience of Coillingwood supporters is (should) have it's limits and mine have been reached.

We didn't go for Porter (he of the one and only one decent season), 'cause as Noel says, Guy Richards is coming along nicely.

(That would be the same Noel Judkins responsible for recruiting most of the current Essendon line up)

Then what is our plan?
Im not happy with just relying on draft pick ups.
It takes then 2-3 years to develop.
Josh Fraser still is maturing and he was pick 1 in 99.

Rash,

I nearly died when I heard that the other Steinford might be coming to the pies.

How many Ex-Richmond ruckmen would that have made in the last 5-6 years??

...and people, ask yourselves what part ruckman played in this year's grand final.

Sommerville and Barnes - not sighted. Keating - no effect, And Brisbane had Beau bloody McDonald, the near sighted giraffe in their team.

If we have a weakness, its the back line and if Far Kinnear can stand up next year, that will go a long way to helping.
