WHAT THE CLUB SAID
``We are over the top. We've pick a good variety of players, which is pleasing because we need to add strength across the board.'' - recruiting manager Noel Judkins.
HOW THEY FARED
In some ways an easy day for recruiting manager Noel Judkins and his Magpie team, with the celebrated Josh Fraser picking himself and Rhyce Shaw, a likely first rounder, committing beforehand via the
father-son rule. "
Josh is going to be a champeen.
He reminds me of a taller version of Bucks.
Very mature dude.
I heard Mick Malthouse talk about the draft picks on Sport 927. He had huge raps for Dale Baynes. He was almost more excited about getting him than Josh Fraser. He reckons he is in the same mould as Wirrpunda and that wiz from Melbourne in Farmer.
Micky even cracked a couple of jokes. Expect a different Mick for the Pies. All I hope is that he doesn't go soft.

bring on 2000. i wish i could just fast forward to round 1, with a nice hot pie in hand sitting about 15 rows back ready to see the new-look pies go about slaughtering some feeble team. i want 95000 at that first game no matter what. it's going to be a big year next year. i'm not expecting too much but hey, it'll be a lovely breath of fresh air. just to see the big no.16 wazza run onto the ground will make my year.
uhhh yeah thanks for that Foxy
Clemo i think you got Dale Baynes mixed up with Leon Davis. Davis is the small quick aboriginal player. Baynes is a big key position player.
But Baynes does at least sound like a great pick up. Its been written that at 18 he already has a good physique, a great leap and good skills - can't ask for anything more.

Mr_Plow,
You are dead right - I got them mixed up.
Leon Davis is THE man. For some reason the Age forgot to put him in their summary.
All in all, I think they recruited pretty well. It would of been great if we got Glass - but that's the draft. At least Roach is a goal kicker.
