Bloody ripper, two potential beauties. Best of all, Beams a tough insider who should have gone earlier

Versatile midfielder who can go forward or back. High possession winner who is balanced and composed in traffic. Queensland representative in the 2008 NAB AFL U18 Championships and was most impressive averaging 24 disposals, including a game high 34 disposals against the NT. Resisted the temptation to join the newly formed GC17 team on the Gold Coast to nominate for the 2008 NAB AFL Draft. From Southport FC.

GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!

DAYNE BEAMS (SOUTHPORT / 184 / 80)

Imposing looking kid and another off the production line out of Southport. He and Swan will be cult heroes with the tattoos. Beams is a very competitive midfielder type who played in this premiership team at Southport. Skilled player who gets fair bit of the football and runs all day. Aggressive player who likes a contest and has a pretty big engine. Consistency and height (which he cant do much about) would be the only issues for him. Dominated for QLD averaging 25 odd possessions a game. His best effort was arguably his effort in the Southport GF win. Few mates who were there said it was pretty special effort.
