Out: Barham, Maxwell (inj), Medhurst, Fraser
In: Dawes, Didak, BJ, Ball (if fit, if not O'Bree, Blair or Rounds)
Further discussion.
Barham: Was shocking against the Dees. Can't stay in the side at the expense of any of those inclusions or others on the team. Was clearly the worst IMO and didn't do enough to keep his spot. Showed poor decisions under pressure. In fact will probably be a de-list at end of season IMO. Not AFL standard.
Maxwell: Hope his calf will be Ok, cos we will miss him if he is out. But best to be cautious with this type of injury. No risks to be taken.
Medhurst: Either needs to get 100% fit/recovered, or get some form at VFL. Any of the inclusions should cover his loss ATM. We need him at his best.
Fraser: After venting yesterday, and watching the replay last night, I think Fraser wasn't a complete disaster. But his last Q was ordinary. Show some form in VFL and some hardness and willingness at the contest. But I have a suspicion that MM won't drop him.
In:
Dawes: Kicked 5 in VFL. Didn't really agree with his ommision in the first place. But we look better with a potential goal kicker at FF than L.Brown, who provides a good contest and hardness, but fails to hurt teams on the scoreboard. Suggest that Dawes and L.Brown give Jolly the chop out in the ruck.
Didak: I assume he'll be fit. And can be used up forward.
Ball: I assume he'll be fit. But if not O'bree should be. We need a clearnace player and despite O'brees short comings, he fits the mould. In addition Swans aren't fast, so shouldn't get too exposed for pace.
Other potential options are Blair and Rounds. Blair can be elevated on the extra list position available this week and play his in and under role. I will be really excited if he gets his chance in senior level. Rounds to play the Medders role and didak into the middle.
Edit: opps. forgot BJ. We missed his run and carry of HB and middle. It releases Heath Shaw.
Lucky. L.Brown. We'll need him for the ruck chop out and as extra defender for Maxwell. (i.e Reid can shuffle across as the loose man)

Out:Maxwell(inj)
In:Goldsack
*Highly doubt Nick will be right to go against Sydney with Tyson his natural replacement. After being in and out of the team last season Goldsack was one of the better performed players during finals. Injuries and illness have hampered his year but after a couple of good displays in the VFL should be right to go. One could argue as a pure defensive player he's a better option than the captain.
Out:Fraser(omit)
In:Dawes
*Josh was poor in the Queens birthday clash and average at best in his previous two outings. Whether it be a result of age, inury or just a slump in form he's not performing at a level that warrants a place in the 22 at this stage. Dawes has his critics and areas of his game that still need improvement but he's a player on the rise who's shown enough in his 6 games this season to believe he's worth persisting with. Should be played deeper in the f50 for longer periods and given space to lead like any full forward.
Out:Medhurst(rest)
In:Didak
*If Medhurst is not close to 100% fit then he needs to once again be placed on the sidelines. We can't afford to carry him for another season in the hope he'll come good. He won't. Need him at his best come September, over the last 2 weeks he hasn't been anywhere near that level.
Out:Barham(omit)
In:Ball
*I feel a little sorry for Barham as he was thrown to the wolves somewhat in this game, being asked to fulfil a role not familiar to him against a quick, highly skilled and experienced opponent. What a surpise he failed.
If Ball doesn't come up for the clash against Sydney I'd consider elevating Blair.
Out:Macaffer(omit)
In:Johnson
*Ben Johnson had a very good 9 weeks before a dip in form in his previous 2 games but he still has a couple of credits left in the bank. I believe Macaffer still has a lot to offer the side and will be back before the season is out but after playing 12 games straight at AFL level might benefit in going back to VFL for a few weeks in the hope he can rack up some big numbers.
Players under the microscope:L.Brown, Lockyer, Davis, Shaw
Players in line for senior selection:Buckley, Rounds, *Blair
*Rookie who'd need to be elevated.

^didn't they say the same thing last year? They said they were changing their game plan against us etc.
What makes me nervous is that we are due to drop one against them. This run against them has to be getting closer to an end. It's been 6 years!
Domination over teams don't last much longer than that.
