what happened last night ?
I went to the Essendon-Bears game last night with the radio hoping to hear our game on the radio but alas for me it wasn't broadcast. So I had to endure the agony of the half time and full time score only, and i almost fell down to hear that we had lost. The only thing i heard from the game is that Freo played really well. Does anybody know what went wrong or right ?

I tell you what went wrong!! Our hearts were not in it! What an embarassment. The only players who played well were Lockyer and Presti. Buckley and Williams were once again kept out of the game. Sav has to go to the two's. About time to give someone else a chance. He started in ruck, thats where the trouble started, bad move by Malty i reckon!
This has certainly been a reality check now 5 and 4 with BRissy at the Gabba!!!

did you watch the game NT????
Sav was killing Michael in the ruck. Malty stuffed up when he moved a player who was clearly on top as were we at that stage.
Staight away Clem Michael got on top and it went from there.
All players would be disapointed as they all made basic errors at some stage. And the scary thing is, matches wont come any easier than against the dorckers.
Andrew Ukovic played his best game and should be given a full game for at least the next 2 weeks.

Once again another team has underestimated the Dockers and paid for it. I said in another forum that unless the Pies have 10 wins by the end of round 15 the Pies will not make the finals.
Whilst the Pies have improved, they are a young team and they willl not be able to keep up the instenisty for the rest of the season. king Eddie's plans for a new years eve game will play havoc on the Pies for the rest of the season.
it is too hard to keep a team up from january till August.
Still the best team won on the night and it was a matter of time with guys like Richardson, Watson and mckee already having their career games this season.
Whilst you have improved, you have started too early and everyone will catch you.
GO THE DOCKERS!!!!!!
PS: r the Pies the new the Cats of 99

Firstly, Mr_Plow, the move to put Sav into the ruck was to get him involved in the game to get his confidence up so he could move down to the forward line... Didn't this work? Yes, it did. He kicked two goals in that quarter. Malthouse knows what he is doing.
As for Ukovic... are you being sarcastic? Ukovic did not play his best game because his disposal was 2nd rate, but so was everyone else's. But at least he got the ball...
Jerkoffski, Kinnear was out injured, so your comment is incorrect.
GO the PIES

I did watch the whole game unfortunately. Ukovic played well, so did the defence. What about the rest. Willo and Bucks have been tagged out for three weeks running. Bucks is carrying an injury i am sure. Rocca looked terrible except for one goal, but what about the crumbers?? Where were they. Anthony looked a little unfit played a good 5 minutes in the last quarter. most disappointing game i have ever seen!!!!

i'm seriously hoping kinnear was injured, and that malty didn't leave him out of the side on purpose. what we seriously lacked last night was a fast, tall defender. richo was pretty useless and presti played his worst game for the year. kinnear would have at least provided some run and marking power in the back half.
I have to say that although I have received the bulletins every day for about 2 years I have never registered b4.
I also have to say that some Magpie supporters have very short memories.
This is precisely what Malthouse and those close to the Club said would happen.
Young players will be inconsistent and they can't maintain the level of intensity for long periods. To get 5/5 was miraculous and I have said to others recently that it will be a long while before we win another five (and I said it weeks ago).
What IS disappointing (and several of you have pointed this out) is the older, experienced players who simply have not put their hands up of late.
We are a young side and Magpie supporters have very high expectations-too high really. We have started to believe the press. This is a wake up call. We CAN be a great side but it won't happen in one year. If we don't make the 8, so what? Did you really expect to 8 weeks ago anyway?
What we need to do now is take the reality check. We are going to bomb out sometimes. Accept it. But, keep going to the games so we can shut up the losers from Carlton who rang MMM last night and said we would drop off the bandwagon.
We wont.
Floreat Pica!
By the way Neil A., Richard Stremski's excellent "Kill For Collingwood" outlines the history of just how a workers' club like Collingwood happened to come by a Latin motto. From memory it was a clubman who wanted to prove Collingwood could mix it with the likes of Melbourne FC.

ytry4 - i may have been off the mark with my critisism of Malty. I still would have liked to see Sav in the ruck for the whole game but i expect he doesnt have the fitness to even last a quarter there. So moving him was probably the only option.
As for Ukovic, are you being sarcastic. There was that one major blunder which cost us a goal but that was pretty much it. He was trying his guts out and showed great pace for a player his size.
Foxy - i don't think Kinnear was injured. Freo didnt have many talls to match up on, and Presti and Richo were picked ahead of him
RT- you made some good points there. No i never expected us to make the finals this year and i still don't. But that doesn't mean we can sit here and accept performances like that.
Oh yeah keep posting
