Why?

Post by peps_12 »

On one hand we have Gavin Brown.

On the other we have Shane Watson.

I don't care if Rowdy is in a ****ing wheelchair, he is of far more value to the Collingwood team than that big eared, silver haired ****wit. What has Watson kicked this year, 0g-15b?

Next they will be resurrecting the career of Patterson.

Oh, and Wasley is shit, too. Three free kicks in a row. Does he ever touch the ball without ****ing up?

However, apart from these absolute shittrucks, we have a squad to be proud of. Some of the skills our boys showed in defeat today were silken. Tarkyn Lockyer is a star in the making.

does wazza ever touch the ball without farking up?

i think his 100% efficiency rate by hand and foot can testify to the fact that your statement is a load of crap.

by the way, heard of a player called luke power? he kicked 3 in the first quarter. wazza was moved onto him and he hardly got a touch until 3 quarter time, when MM decided to take wazza off the ground. power kicked away in the last quarter and we lost the game.

as for the watson/brown comparison - didn't watto kick 4 goals against north? didn't he also get about 25 possies that day?

It looked to me that Wasley had been watching Damien Adkins for the past 3 weeks. Held onto the ball too long. As soon as he got the ball you could see he was gonna back himself and almost everytime he was caught and his disposal put his teammates under huge pressure. Don't worry he wasn't the only one to underestimate Luke Power's pace and pay for it.

u r all missing one important point one of those decisions for holding the ball against wasley was absolutely crap. as for the team effort it was great, two goals broke our back in the second half. tarrant was great, but watson should go and Neon Leon has no balance in the big league. O'bree wasnt as good as usual, but hey lets think of this year is building for the future!!

I think some people are far too quick to criticise players when they hold on to the ball a little too long...

1- There is no point kicking the ball hurriedly if it is only going to get rebounded by the opposition.

2- Malthouse probably encourages players making the play when they have the ball, like we used to see at West Coast with Cousins and Jacovich. The only problem with Adkins and Wasley doing it is that they have pretty light frames, so maybe they shouldn't be trying to evade the opposition.

And our ability to kick goals without Sav showed that we dont need him as much as we thought we did. Tarrant and Anthony played real well and lifted the team at certain stages of the game. But a disappointing resuklt nonetheless.

Go PIES!!!

Sorry but Wasley is a shocker. I'm yet to see him do something that gives me any hope he's a quality player. He seems to back himself to run and was caught too many times - his pace is overstated by his supporters. His disposal by hand and foot is terrible and he never takes the first option but wrong foots teamates downfield through his indecision. He's been around for a few years now. I reckon a good run of about 6-8 games in the VFL should establish whether he can be a quality player at that level let alone the top level. Watson still hasn't worked out that he needs to contribute at a senior level and should make way for Browny this week. Tuckey impressed with his marking and leading (check it out Sav!). The forward line actually appeared a bit more mobile without Sav. MM seems to have lost patience with Kinnear (which is a shame cause the kid can play) so he may get dropped back. I'd prefer to see the big Wes Fellowes impersonator, McKee dropped back but then he'll probably get a run against his old side. Mal Michael will add some flexibility to the set up. All in all it's still the midfield that's underperforming at the moment. Guys like O'Bree, Orchard & Licuria are getting beaten which means we rob the backline each week to run Burns & Lockyer on the ball. Would also like to see Freeborn, Willo & Neon camped under the talls in the forward line - they are all natural goal-kickers and should be left there. Gotta beat the termite gang this week or we're really back where we started.

his disposal by hand and foot is terrible? crikeys! he made only one glaring error by foot yesterday, and that was from a free kick. his other 10 possies were effective. i really think you should go and watch the tape again. 2 of those 3 free kicks paid against him were shockers. sorry, but i think calling a bloke a 'shocker', when he managed to quell the most dangerous guy on the ground for 2 quarters is ridiculous. just as he did against winston abraham, he kept luke power under some sort of control. keep an eye behind the play before you start writing off players like that.

oh and by the way, if you REALLY want to see at least one piece of play that justifies his senior position - take a look at about midway through the second quarter (it might be the third): wazza grabs the ball in defensive 50 and fires out of a pinpoint 50 metre pass to richo in the centre square. there's at least SOMETHING good that wazza did yesterday.

Foxy,

I'm not sure exactly why you take the Wazza criticism so seriously (unless of course the rumours last year of you being the "Clark Kent" to Wazza's "Superman" are true).

He was a major problem on Staurday. Everry time he - or Lica - got trhe ball I was yelling at the TV to kick immediately and DO NOT RUN.

Both got caught EVERY TIME they tried to take someone on, forcing the ball to be coughed up quickly or a free kick. As for his efficiency rating, yes the official stats show he had only 1 clanger (out of a measley 11 disposals) but hitting a target who is under enormous pressure doesn't count as "efficient" in my books.

Having said that , Licuria was the greater offender on Saturday, "over-handballing" countless times in our back 50 and also thinking he is a fast player. Waslery was at the start of last year, but he has not outrun a single opponent this season.

As for all those singing Tuckey's praises and bagging Big Sav: Tuckey kicked 3 goals.

Only 3.

Sav has been kicking that almost every week this season, even when injured. He was dismal against Essendon, but all other games I would far rather his bulk and far more accurate and far longer kicking than the promising Tuckster.

When are we going to realise that Sav is not all to blame, when the ball is delivered to our forward line. If our mid field deliver the ball clean and out in front then it would be hard for opposition teams to man up on Sav.

Instead when we go forward and they see Sav, the bomb it long to the Full Forward position, only to have two to three defender manning up on Sav, it always happens.
