So we've got pick 5 and 30. Who do you want?

So Beams goes to Brisbane and we receive pick 4 as part of the compensation, what then?

Do you want the club to use it to pursue a ready made quality Beams replacement like Dangerfield or an Essendon player wanting out?

Is your preference to take it to draft day and take the best midfielder available at that selection or should we just take the best available even if that's another key position player in the mould of Moore?

Thinking outside the square would it be possible to move up a couple of places in the draft by putting together a trade offer involving more than just the Beams compensation?

Would pick 4 and Mayes (pick 8 in the 2012 draft) be enough to prize pick 1 off a club a club in total rebuild mode like St.Kilda?

Would pick 4, Lumumba and an exchange of later draft picks be enough to see us move up to selection 2 and gain Clark?

If a trade for Dangerfield doesn't come off then trading up a couple of picks does have it's appeal.

While a quality potential A grader can most certainly be obtained at pick 4 if we're after a midfielder there is a good chance that the 2 considered the best of this draft in Petracca and Brayshaw will likely go top 3.

If we go with the theory that good big men are harder to find then McCartin might still be there at pick 2. If not then hello Petracca.

I think it's something worth seriously considering and assuming Moore has to be taken at pick 8 then I'd happily give away our second round pick for the sake of moving up a couple of draft places.

Below are a couple of links giving you some info on those who'll be available at selection 4 and below.

Who do you have your eye on?

I'd take Dangerfield for Beams. Young enough and good enough.

If you can do a deal like that, take it because it means we don't go backwards list wise at all. If we go kids, we take a step back list wise.
Beams has been rated as worth 2 top draft picks, so my strong preference is to trade with the GC and get their first pick and a good player.

In a nutshell, if we cant get a ready made gun replacement for beams, i would reluctantly settle for any scenario that resulted in us getting petracca to the club. On pace alone, not sure if there would be a quicker duo than petracca and freeman going around together for next ten years ( assuming they both live up to the hype heaped upon them )

If we could orchestrate a deal on pick 4 and say Redden for Beams.

Then on trade pick 4 and Lumumba to the Dees for pick 2 and Clark.

Realistically St Kilda will select a key forward as replacement for Riewoldt leaving Petracca available for us to swoop.

First option is to replace Beams with a similarly aged star. Dangerfield would be an upgrade given the balance of our team.

Next option is a high pick - do whatever it takes to make it as high as possible as we're hunting elites - and a promising younger player.

In the draft Petracca is the one we want, well ahead of any others. Sounds like a young Dangerfield. Unlike last year the rest of the class don't overly thrill me. I'd be happy to take Moore as the sure thing rather than use a very early pick on Wright or McCartin, neither of which are absolute standouts. We need our next superstar mid here not a tall who's eventual level is uncertain.

How would this Effect Moore and Pick 8?

It wouldn't. We take Moore at 8 unless we win the lottery and we're not forced to. If we have an earlier pick we take a midfielder. I know we should always take best available, but not in this case. I don't think McCartin or Wright are that far ahead of Moore, and talls are always a risk. We need a potentially elite midfielder.

Hopefully pick up a Hanley or rich or aish with pick 5.

Trade that pick to gws for Dylan shiel.

He is a gun. Would be happy to come home and is good mates with Adams.

^ Petracca will be gone with pick 1. Pick 2 at worst. I don't see us having a shot at him. Brayshaw maybe, but he isn't as good right now.

^^That's why I'm preparing for disappointment. He's the only one I'd be rapt to get as a top 5 pick. If moving up to two secures him, then we should do it. Otherwise forget it.

It really shouldn't since the bidding is the day before trade week.

It means he'll have some company up there on the stage when the top 10 get their jumpers presented to them...
