Griffen pick 4 & 7
Beams for pick 5 & 25 proposed!
summary:
terrible disparity and the Pies now have leverage in comparing the poor Brissy offer

Until the Blues hand over pick 7 it can't even be considered.
Would give the Doggies 4, 6, & 7 though if it did eventuate and be their 3rd big plunge at the draft.

One thing is for sure no way will we accept 5 and 25 for Beams if the dogs get 4 and 7 for Griffen who's 4 YEARS OLDER!
Pick 5 and Aish bitches!

The situation has to be put into context:
GWS have a flood of talented youngsters so early draft picks ain't worth as much to them as virtually every other club (bar Gold Coast maybe)
It's gunna be a major windfall for any club that can swing a deal for an ageing quality mature player who wants out.

Then why aren't we telling Beams he has to consider going to GWS?
He'll be reunited with his best mate in Shaw and only an hours flight away from his dad.
If he wants to leave the club then it's not all on his own terms.
If GWS are interested in Griffen then sure as hell they'd be more than interested in the younger Beams.

they've oft stated they wanted picks inside the top 10.
even if the griffen deal is better than the beams trade it is only dictated by the value placed of the commodity by the bartering parties.

You'd have to be crazy giving up picks 4 and 7 for just Griffen.
More like Griffen and pick 6 for picks 4, 7, 21.

What about Brisbane's context?
If Griffen is worth more to GWS than two top draft picks, then the same argument could be made about Beams being more important to Brisbane than pick 5 and Aish.
However good Griffen was, he's getting past him prime now. Beams is just about to enter his. And the very least they have equal trade value, though I'm sure the majority of clubs would pick Beams if it were a choice between the two, right now.
Swoop42 - I've got no doubt we've told Paul Connors that we'd trade Beams to any club that offers a fair deal. Problem is they've picked the Lions so we have to deal with them, at least until tomorrow arvo.

They might have picked the lions but if the lions wont provide adequate trade value in return then Beams and his manager need to realise that they might need to be flexible so we get the deal we require.
GWS would seem like a half decent compromise.
What's best for Collingwood is all I care about.

My point exactly - seems we are in furious agreement.
Stuff Beams and stuff Brisbane. The old man thing is a % of his reason to leave. How much % nobody knows, but Sydney is closer to Byron Bay and 4 and 7 beats 5 and 25.... Treloar and 7 would beat them all.

I think we have too many Beams threads....

No disputing any of that. Only that we've given them until tomorrow afternoon to come up with something reasonable, so I feel like we need to stick to our word there and wait before suggesting they talk to other clubs.
GWS would certainly be an option after tomorrow, but I think the Gold Coast are more likely, assuming a deal can't be done with Brisbane.

Brisbane are looking at getting 21 for Patful.
If they want Beams then that pick comes to us as well.
Pick 5, 21 with 25 used on Greenwood.
Getting closer.

GWS would not have cap space for beams
