Could be a big raid on GWS next year. Are we readying ourselves for some of this? I hope so.

Let's hope that our tight salary cap position has eased. Hoping that we have front ended contracts, otherwise we may struggle to attract anyone.

This time next year (With the exception that he does not sign an extension) we should be going hard for Dangerfield. Without doubt, he's a player that can really help turn this club into a top 4 contender.
The salary cap is said to be an issue, but I'm sure we'll have some room to move with all the players gone from this year. (If not we may have to let go of one or two mid range players).
As far as GWS....
My preference would be:
1. Dylan Shiel.
2. Adam Treloar.
3. Jeremy Cameron.
4. Adam Tomlinson.
But really, you could re-arrange the top 3 in any order. Of course, the problem is that GWS wont really be wanting to lose anymore players after the Boyd situation. In particular, they'll be holding onto Cameron as he is a forward.
I want one of these kids. But the competition will be hard. And GWS will surly not let all 4 of them go.
The real question is can Collingwood actually attract one of these guys??
And then we'll have to worry about a trade.

I think the salary cap issue is that we want to underspend this year while we can... there is an article about Port getting Ryder by being allowed to spend 105% of cap because they underspent in one of the prev two years. Shhh. might be on to something.

would you be prepared to tank for the spoon so that you can use the leverage of the pre season draft to get a Dangerfield on the cheap?

^ No.
I don't believe in tanking.
Losing teams don't attract quality players and it creates a losing culture.
Has tanking helped Melbourne or Carlton? No.
Our job is to get Danger to want to be a Magpie. Then we can work with the Crows for a trade, or offer him a contract that the Crows won't match.

GWS will probably lose 1 or 2 quality kids every season, problem is that they'll get high draft picks for them and continue to build via the draft. Our question will be "are they what we need" given that we have a talented group of kids already, maybe an established A grader preferred. Time will tell.

You've just got to worry about the money that's going to be thrown around.
