Organise a raffle each home game. See if the club can have the winner displayed on the big screen at 3/4 time. I am sure that the club could donate a clothing item or something. Tiks could be $1 each of 6 for $5. I am sure you would sell plenty of tiks on the day and the money can then go into the cheer squad coffers. I would gladly sell them in the social club prior to each home game.
Have banners in the C.S with players names on them.
Arrange a Cheer Squad dinner dance at the end of the year. this was done a couple of years ago and we had a good night.
Trivia night, good idea JLC. This was also done a few years ago.
Have a newsletter that lets everybody know about upcoming events, such as the footy match. If there is going to be any events, arrange them b4 the season so as to create as much publicity as possible.

Pre season Cheersquad BBQ - this has happened in the past and is a great idea.

If you join the Cheersquad, just say hello to the people around you at the game and I'm sure you will make lots of friends - that's all I did - everyone is there for the same thing, to support our great team and have fun!

JLC the idea of rotating the people who use the floggers sounds good as long as they are strong enough to do this (not for young kids).
The only problem with this idea is that when you pay for a reserved seat you are allocated a seat number and it could become a bit tricky if you show up and someone is sitting in your seat as sometimes the non-reserved seats are taken too.

We do currently receive a keyring.

CAAS, there IS a raffle (amongst the cheersquad) at every game and I think that maybe I have seen the result displayed on the screen - (not sure about that).

Well i was a member of the cheersquad this year and did not receive a keyring. Maybe this needs to be promoted a bit more Image

With the trivia night you could get one of the players to be the quiz master or even get Eddie to come along and be a guest presenter. The prizes wouldnt cost much as im sure the club will donate some of the prizes Image This would be a good chance to sign up new members in the Cheersquad!!!

***A webpage

And I'll throw my hat in the ring - I am joining this year - haven't been in it for like 10 years or something. But I will happily take on the job of updating the pages and that if you need me and if this eventuates.

Nothing fancy - just a place where events can be posted, details about memberships, what is expected/not expected, details about bannermaking etc.

No messageboards to moderate or anything like that - just another outlet to promote the c/squad and provide information.

There is a spirit there - it just has to be captured guys!!!

I know like in normal cheerleading they have like 'spirit leaders' who are incharge of keeping the spirits up etc. Maybe this is needed in each row or something to make sure that - yes you are in the cheersquad so you have to ahem.. cheer! Image

How many key rings do you need? I'd rather a "Collingwood" pen.

Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.

Yeah a pen is a good idea as you can never have too many. The best place to sell pen is at the horse races Image

Even though I'm 3000kms away from Vic, I'd like to be a member of the C/S. Perhaps an associate m/ship for interstate and country supporters, for the the times we do manage to get to see the games live?

There will be a barby at my place sometime in january date and time to be announced on here ( nicks ) and fromtheouter website
all people will be most welcomed, what we need is for someone to have a diary of all phone numbers of cheer squad members therefor making it easier to organise functions in the off season.

... or rather than a pen, what about a Collingwood Football Club bookmarks. Should be cheap, and the club can flog any excess through the shop.

Rule 1. Barrack for Collingwood
Rule 2. See rule 1.
Rule 3. There is no rule 3.
