Cheersquad meeting was held last night led by:
David Emmerson - Director of Marketing
Anthony Trainor- Membership Department
Cameron Mckim? - Whizz Kid and new Secretary Treasurer of C/Squad
We were informed that the club will take over the Presidency and Treasury of the Cheersquad.
Everyone who was a member last year or has already joined up this year will be sent a form to apply for reserved seating in the Cheersquad. This will be approximately $60 - $65 for 18 games. (You must also purchase a seasons ticket.)
The new idea is that from now on you will have your Cheersquad seat number printed on your season's ticket and although you will be allocated a seat number, you will not necessarily sit in the same seat each week as the front row will be rotated each week to enable everyone to have a chance to sit there.
Some of us have already purchased our seasons tickets and/or Cheersquad Memberships so we will fill this out on the form when it arrives and they will organise our seat allocation only.
Other topics disussed were:
Having a welcoming committee at the games each week.
Encouraging more kids to join and have a chance to sit in the front row or help with the banner.
Banner making will be more enjoyable with refreshments provided.
Everything will be different to last year - problems should not recur.
Crazy Johns will be sponsoring the banner.
There will possibly be a Cheersquad Function midyear.
At the conclusion of the night those interested in being on a committee to run the Cheersquad or to help in any way put their names down to volounteer.
I hope this sees the start of a new era in the Cheersquad where we can join with people from all over and have a great time every week.
I for one can't wait!
If you bleed black and white you'll never walk alone.

Well done, Julee. You must have been taking the minutes. So that's what they were on about!
So that would imply that those who've paid up already OR who were members last year have got first bite at the cherry when it comes to the reserved seats.
That's what I thought they were saying at first, but when I tried to clarify that by asking a question about what would happen if the number of Cheer Squad members exceeded the number of available seats, I found their answer very ambiguous. When they started saying things like "get in early" I started to feel a bit insecure about the fact that I hadn't paid my membership yet. So, I turned up at The Club first thing the next morning with the readies to buy a Season Ticket and Cheer Squad membership, only to be told to wait until I got the letter about the reserved seats.
Sorry ... but I'm just feeling a bit insecure in the present climate. I think there's a bit of an all-round membership crisis at Collingwood at the moment ... as in more members than The Club is actually equipped to deal with. And I'm gripped by this (hopefully) irrational fear of abandonment.
I also have a strong sense of no-confidence in the C.F.C. membership department, having observed their bungling for a few years now. Remember, these are the same people who never got around to sending out the key-rings and membership cards of many of last year's Cheer Squad members, some of whom are STILL waiting.

Well i have already joined up. I have given up on receiving last years membership card...lol However i do hope that i receive a membership card this year.
Its good to see that the club cares enough to help the cheersquad and i guess they want it to succeed as much as we do. Afterall we are representing the Collingwood Football Club.
